That sounds good, jane. It really is helpful to know when to stop eating. Glad to hear you enjoyed your exercise. Tai

Tonight my husband and I took an energetic 1 1/2 hour tandem bike ride and then only had enough time for fast food before we had to pick our kids up. We ended up at A & W and I thought it would be lousy, but was amazed at how GOOD everything tasted, just because we were so hungry. "Yum!" every bite! Even so, we split one combo meal and then split a sundae at Baskin Robbins and both filled up before we were half finished with dessert, so we put the rest in our freezer. No tummy ache!Given that this was an EXTREMELY stressful day, most of it spent dealing with a frightening medical emergency, with breakfast a cookie a friend handed me in the ER at noon and lunch didn't come until mid-afternoon when I was buzzing with stress & I was completely unable to make myself stop reading while I was eating but still didn't overeat, I feel like this turned out to be a successful eating day, as in I did the best I could to honor my body given the

circumstances, none of which were ideal all day long.

That is quite an accomplishment to stay as mindful and aware as you did under

those circumstances Jane! And I bet your bike ride helped to dispel a lot of the

tension too. Excellent choices and I am inspired by your progress. I'm assuming

that the medical emergency turned out OK? Lousy way to start any day! Lovely way

you ended it :-)

Yes, I feel like I'm doing some pretty good self-care during really rough times

emotionally, which has never been my pattern. It's good not to be compounding

the stress with a chronic tummy ache, sugar buzz, and weight gain. This morning

we went out for brunch to celebrate our son's birthday and a couple of family

members with mental health issues made things really stressful. I was amazed to

realize I had no interest in continuing to eat once the food was no longer

tasting wonderful. There was lots left, but I left it! I didn't get any tummy

ache from greasy food, because I didn't eat too much of it. Instead, I went

over and socialized with an old friend and then she joined the family for a few

minutes, as she used to be our birthday boy's teaching assistant years ago and

was thrilled to see him on his 15th. Jane

Wow, nice work. It's amazing how one even eating while distracted can be " ok " ,

once the basics of IE have been internalized. Sometimes I eat while

" distracted " sometimes not - either way, my eating is working out much better

for me when I don't have to be perfectly in control of every bite. Imagine

putting part of a B & R dessert in the freezer because you didn't want it all!
