I don't see how upping the prednisone could hurt you. I've taken as much as 40 mg a day. Nina
Guest guest
I agree with increasing the Prednisone, but I also think a call to the doctor's office is also worthwhile unless they have told you not to call. Most doctor's offices complain more about patients NOT calling instead of too many calls. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: Sherrie Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Wednesday, May 04, 2005 5:44 AM Subject: flare up I am having a bad flare up today and in a lot of pain any ideas as to how i can get it under cotrol with out calling the doctor it feels like i call the doctors all the time do you think it would be alright if i upped my predisone i am on 10mg a day aleady a day already the weather has been cold and terable here l know that helped with my flareup thanks for listening Sherrie in Oklahoma
Guest guest
Hi Sherrie: You might want to call your doctor and ask about a prednisone pack instead. That kicks you up high and then gradually brings you back down over the course of a week or so. The last time I had a big flare, I just put myself up from 5 to 10 mg/day. My doctor said that next time I should do this dose pack isntead. I think the reasoning is that you get yourself over the flare, but you don't end up at a higher dose than when you started. I still haven't gotten back down to 5 - I'm at 7 right now. Good luck and hope you start feeling better soon. gloria -----Original Message----- From: Sherrie <scorn720@...> Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Wed, 04 May 2005 12:44:38 -0000 Subject: flare up I am having a bad flare up today and in a lot of pain any ideas as to how i can get it under cotrol with out calling the doctor it feels like i call the doctors all the time do you think it would be alright if i upped my predisone i am on 10mg a day aleady a day already the weather has been cold and terable here l know that helped with my flareup thanks for listening Sherrie in Oklahoma
