Guest guest
Hi Jeannie and welcome My name is and I'm a newbie to the group too. I'm 42, but our son is almost 21 (grins). I was only diagnosed about 6 months ago, but I'm betting that I've had this for years because of the symptoms that I've had for so long and that I'm just now learning to recognize. My rheumy put me on Celebrex and I'm one of those people who cannot take it - it made me dizzy all the time and made parts of my body go numb - I had decreased sensation on my left side - and even had what appeared to be a mini stroke. I've had more tests and seen more docs in the past 6 months than I had in the previous 41 years. But all those symptoms went away after I stopped taking it and it got out of my system. So now I'm afraid to take any thing other than Aleve or Ibuprofen. I don't want the side effects, you know? I do take glucosamine, chrondroitin and msm pills 3 times a day, but they take about 2 months to really kick in. I hope that you can find something to help you with it! I've had OA for quite some time and had L 4-5 removed a few years ago with great success. I've been in a lot of pain lately. My first appt w/ a Rheum is 4/12. At this point I want it treated aggressively. I'm willing to take Enbrel and Sulfasalazine, but not prednisone or MTX. Any thoughts or comments on any of these meds would be appreciated. I'm 41 now and raising my 8 year-old completely on my own...I would like to keep working for a long time...as long as possible. Smiles to all, Jeannie. If I take aleve, it will last 12 hours. If I take Aleve then MSM it is gone in 2 hours. If you find that your pain pills are not lasting as long as they should, stop taking the MSM. Glucosamine and Chondroitin don't have the same effect. Sharon
