Thanks for your email. I just have to say that I am so scarfed right nw. The

beta results came back but they seemed a little low for how far I am supposed to

be. My cycles are 35 days longs so that could be alittle of it. I cryed so

much last night that my eyes are raw. Please pray tha at 9:30 or so the doctore

will call with good news. I had to go get another blood test last nioght to

make sure it is doubling. If it is then we are fine if not then you know what

happens. I cant eat or anything Im so stressed out. My poor hubby is so sad

that I cryed all day. Well talk toyou all later.

Re: I am brand new to this group....please help

Hi ,

We are very similar. I am pregnant (13 weeks) and also have PCOS. I

had my RNY on 7/25/00. My husband and I never really wanted kids

when we first got married, (10 years as well) until about 6-7 years

into it- that is when I discovered my PCOS, and then had RNY.

I myself have been freaked out for the past 13 weeks, trying to find

a hospital that did epidural, could treat me, my baby, my PCOS and my

WLS! Finally got a impromtu sonogram today and everything is looking

good. Every cramp is enough to drive you insane, and I had quite a

few of them - but for the past 2 weeks, everything's been " quiet " ...

I get a real sonogram on 11/19, and hopefully it will show us what

the sex is... anyhow- hang in there. I had a rough time at 5,6,7

weeks with spotting- threatened misscarriage at 5 weeks, but I took

it really easy and tried to relax. I was just happy to find that we

COULD get pregnant, and we would just try again if we lost it. Glad

we didn't- but to go from no periods, to getting periods to getting

pregnant, that alone for me was success!

Hi Diane,

I'm not sure what you mean? Are you asking if symptoms return

postpartum?

Thanks!

Hello,

I could not get pregnant before my gastric bypass either. However, I assumed

it was from the weight, but I was not diagnosed with PCOS. I did not have

any extra hair at all. In fact, all my arm hair had fallen out from the

obesity. Is it possible to have weight effect fertility without having

full-blown PCOS?

Diane, I have had PCOS before surgery and have had two successful pregnancies. I

have never had a miscarriage, which is the most common known risk for pregnant

woman with PCOS. I think I did so well because I temporarily cured myself of

PCOS prior to getting pregnant by getting down to a " normal " weight. If you are

pregnant after your surgery, this wouldn't apply to you either. Your child may

genetically inherit PCOS, but you won't know until probably puberty, however one

thing you can do is limit their intake of hormones through dairy and meats. I

use all organic dairy products for my kids. I like Horizon the best. Good luck

to you.

While infertility tend to be the trigger for women to get a proper

diagnosis, unfortunately, there's a lot more to PCOS than just the

infertility. Women who have PCOS are at greater risk for many diseases.

And, the risk factor doesn't decrease after pregnancy. But, the common

medical practice has been to only treat the infertility aspect of the

syndrome. But, with research and changing attitudes, women with PCOS

are getting treated for the whole syndrome...not just the infertility.

Here's a great article about PCOS.

I hope this is what you were looking for.

Definately Shoshannah! I hadnt had a normal cycle in about a year prior to

surgery, therefor wasnt getting pregnant. I started cycling normally soon after

surgery, and once we started trying almost 2 years out, we were pregnant.

Our bodies don't always produce enough progesterone or other hormones to

support the attachment and proper formation of the embryo (my understanding,

anyway).
