Guest guest
I have been receiving gold injections for about 10 weeks now. I'm beginning to question their benefit, quite honestly. My Dr wanted to put me on MTX but because my liver enzymes were elevated he wanted to try the gold first. Apparently it is an old medication that has been used with success over the years. It is slow acting and my dr has wanted me to hang in there with the injections because I had been taking them for a relatively short amount of time. I think that when I go this week, though we will look at other alternatives. My liver enzymes are down now, so he may try MTX. On the positive side, I just returned home from a new Arthritis Foundation focus group meeting. My area of East Tennessee has little in the way of support and information for arthritis sufferers. My dr was the one who organized the meeting and I applaud his efforts to bring arthritis the attention it deserves in the public forum. Hopefully some good will come from this meeting. I am new to the whole PA thing. Although I have probably had it for years, I was just officially diagnosed about 6 months ago. Finally an answer after being bounced around from dr to dr for years. Anyone else out there taking the gold injections? Any success? Is it time for me to look at something else?? Guest guest
Here is something else. I saw this a few months ago and cut and pasted it into my Sjogren's fact sheet because I have a dry cough and great dryness in the throat. I took gold many years ago and I had never heard of this before. I think those are the symptoms of fibrotic lung disease Annette Gold Injections. Unfortunately patients who received them had a very high long range potential for fibrotic lung disease, kidney disease and/or bleeding problems, and they are showing up now, years later. What are the symptoms? • Shortness of breath, particularly with exertion • Chronic dry, hacking cough • Fatigue and weakness • Discomfort in the chest • Loss of appetite • Rapid weight loss
