Thanks, Theresa. Very encouraging. How long have you been applying IE techniques? I'm doing better than a while back since I've been applying IE principles but there are occasions that I will eat when I'm not particularly hungry. I think the thing I need to work on right now is learning when to stop eating. I'm curious how others are doing in this regard. I've learned when I'm hungry, and in general I can wait until then, but not always. The real problem comes in to play when I am eating -- how to stop when I'm no longer hungry. TaiFrom:

I really like Intuitive Eating too, though the only other book I've read is Healthy at Every Weight. I've read Intuitive Eating several times, and it makes a whole lot of sense to me, and has been very inspiring, and has given me several very very helpful things to hang onto--things that I think about during the course of the day....

Namely,

Am I hungry?

If yes, then what do I feel like eating.

If no, then what am I feeling? What do I really need?

And,

If you don't love it, don't eat it, and if you love it, savor it.

And just the whole idea of honoring your hunger and feeling your fullness, and really savoring the pleasures of eating, because it IS a pleasure.

I'm not saying that I've gotten any RESULTS from any of this, except that this week after I finally decided that I needed to take positive steps towards (re)establishing a healthy relationship with food that I've probably eaten less than I have any time in the past several years, felt great, and experienced much satisfaction with eating, and I do love cooking and eating, so that's a good thing. Dieting in previous years really made me obsessed with food, and I started doing binge eating which I'd never done before.....
