Guest guest
I got my copy mailed to me for under $5 from half.com -- very practical book, spot on. What caught me hardest was their observation that some people (like me!) resent having to re-parent themselves. Here are a few selected passages from their book to give you an idea of what this is all about - "Compulsive eaters assume that food is their problem. Our contention is that food is NOT the problem. Compulsive eaters use food for anxiety rather than for the purpose of physiological hunger. Misuse of food cannot be corrected until compulsive eaters make peace with food itself. Binging and dieting are simply two sides of the same coin. Legalizing foods - removing all the taboos, restrictions, and external controls with regrd to your eating - is the way out of the diet/binge cycle.""The way to demonstrate to yourself that there are no foods on your restricted list is to make sure that all the foods you like are available and abundant."This book is one that has been around for many years and is very likely to be at your library, used book store or cheap online (I got my copy 'free' via PaperbackSwap.com). I found it to be easy to read with lots of good information and suggestions to follow. Guest guest
Katcha, I got my copy (as well as the Intuitive Eating book and several other IE books) on paperbackswap.com, too. Love that site! And yes, I'll bet one's local library would have many of these available. Worth reading a bunch of different approaches in my opinion. Different things in different books click with me and I can craft my own approach with the bits and pieces that are most salient for my life.
