Guest guest
I am starting to get annoyed. Yesterday, I got a reply from iTunes support that they received my message. What message? I never sent them anything. I went into my iTunes account to make sure it wasn't hacked or something fishy was going on and I had a red message when I tried to log in that said I had to change my password, etc. Well being very PC security conscious, I did just that. I changed my passwords for everything. But I'm still getting the " thank you for contacting itunes support, we will review your message...blah blah blah " messages. I DID contact them via their website to find out what was going on, but I haven't received a reply and am still getting more of those automated messages, so something tells me someone's messing around like a child. I may be changing my email address soon, this is really ticking me off. Mia
Guest guest
I got the exact same thing! That is really really odd. I haven't used iTunes in a few days, either. I should have my husband try to log in (Macbook is at home) and see if I have the same message too. > > > I am starting to get annoyed. Guest guest
That or someone from this list is using both of our emails on the iTunes web page. Any one can go on there & input anyone's email. Too bad you can't hide your email from the group, that I know of. If it is someone here, I respectfully ask you to STOP. Thank you. Guest guest
There's a high probability that this involves someone being infected with malicious software rather than someone you know doing anything intentionally. Automated replies to messages you never sent are commonly caused by someone being infected with a virus that pulls addresses from messages they've received and uses them in the from: header when sending spam to addresses in their address book. If the malicious software used your address in the from: header and sent its spam to the iTunes support address, you'd get a message like you got. Messages like that can also be faked, coming from people who are attempting to phish for user IDs and passwords to steal. ITunes has been hit by that quite a bit in recent months. Never click on links in suspicious messages like that unless you are very, very sure that the links go where you think they go. At 12:11 PM 01/06/2011 Justi3 wrote: >I am starting to get annoyed. Guest guest
I got one of these also, but since this isn't the e-mail I use for my ITunes account assumed it was some type of error. Guest guest
Oh I know better than to click on the links, and after reviewing the headers they do appear to be from apple.com. I do hope it's not malicious and would encourage everyone to run a virus scan or malware bytes scan or both. Hopefully it isn't malicious, but it is starting to get very old. I would block the emails except that I do use iTunes and would like to be able to receive their emails if I do send a support request. (which I did when it first started trying to figure out just what was going on. Now I'm waiting for their reply.) But yes, I agree... don't open any links in your email that you don't trust. Sometimes I don't open links from people I do trust because they look fishy! lol. A good friend of mine kept sending fishy links. We scanned his computer and sure enough, malware galore. Yikes. Guest guest
Hm ok Em, so yes, someone from the list could be infected with some form of malware, or be messing around (Yes, I'm a KO and realize that's probably the KO part of my thinking) Yep, time to make a separate email account for non-list emails. Really not sure why I didn't do that to begin with lol. Mia > > > I got one of these also, but since this isn't the e-mail I use for my > ITunes account assumed it was some type of error. Guest guest
Are you getting one of these messages each time you post here? I posted a message and got one of these messages from iTunes support within a few minutes of having posted. What this looks like is that someone subscribed the iTunes support address to receive messages from this group. (That can happen via the mechanism I described earlier if someone has both the group subscription address and the iTunes support address stored somewhere in their mail client. Subscribing requires a confirmation response which generally prevents addresses from being subscribed without the user's acceptance but since the address in question automatically responds, it could have gotten subscribed. ) If that's happened, then everyone who posts anything here is going to get one of those replies until someone fixes the problem. Guest guest
Weird. I have 2 so far and I guess I'll be getting a 3rd. That is tooo weird. Someone must have added the iTunes help email to the WTO group for this topic or something. My best guess. And I hope that a moderator/owner can fix this issue. Holly > > > Yep, that's it.
