Guest guest
I only got a few yesterday and then it stopped. I'm hoping that Yahoo Groups took care of it, and it's not some lurking thing now.

There's nothing at all hard about doing so. You can tell any decent email client to put whatever you want in the from: header of your messages. This is like writing the return address on a letter you mail. Nothing stops you from putting someone else's address there. The other headers in the message may make it clear that the from: header is likely to be false, but there's nothing to prevent it from being done. >Also, how is it automatically picking out our email addresses >to reply to versus replying as a post to the group? The automated reply doesn't have to do anything special to pick out our e-mail addresses. It just replies to the address in the from: header of the messages it receives. If you do everything through the Yahoogroups web interface, you may not realize that this group is really a mailing list. Every message sent to it is sent out to the people who belong to it and who don't have yahoogroups set not to send e-mail messages. Each message contains a from: header, like any other e-mail message, and that from: header contains the address used by the person who sent it. Posting from the group web interface rather than using e-mail to post doesn't change that. Hopefully the whole problem has been fixed now and won't happen again, but if someone's computer is infected, it is possible that there could be a repeat performance or a similar problem with some other server that automatically replies. -- Katrina

Guest guest
Ok, so very strange. iTunes took the time to reply to a message I sent here. Yes, no kidding. They are somehow able to see the content of our emails because I had quoted Katrina's explanation of what was going on, etc and they replied with this topic's subject line. Creepy! Note that this is the same person who answered the support ticket that I did open. Obviously I'm not hacked... Here's what was said: > " Thank you for contacting iTunes Store Customer Support. This is Ranjit again from iTunes store. I appreciate your time taken to write back to us. Please note that your account can get hijacked for a number of reasons, most commonly due to " phishing " emails, sharing passwords, or using the same password for multiple online accounts. Recommend to all, run your anti virus scan, also download and run ( free) Anti Malware, and Super Anti Spyware. And may all hackers be locked in a room with a hundred Witch/Queen BPDs.
