Guest guest
Helen, Welcome, glad to have you on board and thanks for the sharing. Another book to add to my list too perhaps. It is wonderful that your husband is getting involved too. Look forward to talking to you. Sandy Hello to all I am also one of the all-time dieters who has read so many books on dieting, that I have a lot of knowledge on the subject. When one of my friends recommended Geneen Roth's 'Food, Women and God', of course I could not resist buying a copy. I enjoyed reading the book, and was totally amazed about the accurate way in which she decribed ME, and every other chronic dieter. I had trouble, though, trying to eat in the IE fashion, and joined this forum. I read through a lot of your correspondence, and someone (sorry, I'm new, don't know who it was), mentioned a retreat she was on. I searched the web, found the site, and ordered myself (another) book, which then happened to be May's Eat what you love, love what you eat. I got the e-book, as we live far from shops. THIS BOOK HAS CHANGED MY LIFE! The practical way in which she explains things, and all the truth about myself being explained the way she does, made me realise that IE is something that I really can do. I've never enjoyed eating, food and even shopping for food so much. To shop guilt free, eat guilt free and ENJOY my food so much is something that I have never done before. Best of all is that my husband has started implementing a lot of these things too, because it makes so much sense. I am inspired, thankful, and very very relieved. I always felt kind of cursed, because of my constant weight struggle. Its all gone. Great weekend to you all Helen

Guest guest
Hi Helen - I was on the retreat. It was fabulous. And interacting directly with Dr. May and roughly 30 other attendees was amazing. I'm so glad you are able to follow 's suggestions. EWYL was one of the first books I read on intuitive eating. It truly is life changing. And it's great that your husband is following along with you. is planning another retreat in the spring. Maybe you'll be able to be there. Guest guest
Maybe we'll all be there... LOL! What a hoot that would be. I've got it on my list, though my IE reading list is getting pretty long. Welcome to the group; it's so great to walk away from diet mentality and to see how many ways it's warped our thinking. Onward and upward. Sandarah > > > > Hello to all > > > > I am also one of the all-time dieters who has read so many books on dieting, that I have a lot of knowledge on the subject. Guest guest
Hi Helen Welcome to the forum. I'm new here too and fresh from dieting. Isn't it just a joy leaving that behind? I'm finding my new way of eating so enjoyable and am loving eating previously forbidden foods- finding which ones I actually like. I'm also enjoying baking again as I stopped before. Guest guest
, well I thank you so much for the info. Reading 's book caused the 'click' in my head. As to going on one of her retreats, I would absolutely love to. I'm in Africa, unfortunately. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do that, though. I would love to do something like that for myself. , I know what you mean about baking. Allowing myself dessert the other night because I wanted some, was wonderful. Without hating myself or blaming myself for it. Don't know if I have ever savoured dessert in that way before. I think I always gulped down dessert if I had some, because I would be kind of ashamed of myself for eating it, and would always feel guilty. Well, I feel more 'normal' than I have ever felt in my life. Glad to have found all of you. Good to have people who understand, and people who can give some perspective if you lose it. Guest guest
Am glad it is working so well for you. Am on ivf drugs at the moment so hard to tell where my weight would be without that. I am finding eating out much less stressful than previously and consequently finding it easier to choose what I actually want. My body does seem to know what it wants and I'm finding a real pleasure in giving it what it wants. > > > > Hi Helen > > > > Welcome to the forum. I'm new here too and fresh from dieting. Guest guest
Helen, The beauty of the internet is connecting all of us even though you're in African and I'm in Alaska and who knows where all everyone else on the list is? Yet we aren't alone in our IE journey. I relate to the old guilty gulping of desserts, whereas now I enjoy them without guilt - except when I'm afraid my 11 year old will catch me and want it for himself (even though he's already had his share). So I've still got a way to go, but am on my way too. Jane > > , well I thank you so much for the info. Reading 's book caused the 'click' in my head. Guest guest
Well...my pants AREN'T getting any looser, but I still think IE is the way to go. I totally agree with the notion of doing what my body wants in order to feel good, and I have been feeling really good, even though my pants are just as tight as ever. I did go shopping a couple times in the past week to get pants that weren't tight, and I feel so much better wearing them. Tilley > > > > Hi Helen > > > > Welcome to the forum.
