Well, it's taken me most of the weekend to regain my equilibrium after my forray

into ice cream Friday after work. Eating foods that are wrong for the body

throws off my digestive system for days and my sense of hunger is replaced by

feeling mostly icky with or without food. Tonight I feel a bit more normal

physically and that's good.

I do like Geneen's " zen " approach to IE, but can see now that I need to

strengthen my tools and continue to educate myself on this process. For

whatever reason the IE book doesn't speak to me very well so I picked up a

couple of other books at the co-op on Saturday. " Eating Mindfully " by

Albers a psy.d and " Mindful Eating " by a physician, Jan Cozen Bays. I will

however write out the IE steps so that I can have a bit more structure until I

get more grounded in this.

I think some of this (work stuff) reflects the secret belief that if I just

don't rock the boat, the ride will be smooth. Gobbling down something sweet on

the way home from work certainly wasn't a new behavior, but this was the first

time I stepped back and let what was going to happen, happen.

In the past the thought of having eaten a " forbidden food " would have obscured

the incidents at work - but since I didn't go to war with the diet police,

things look very different today. Otherwise, no doubt I'd be contemplating

starting another diet tomorrow morning, blaming my " food addiction " rather than

seeing that food was not the problem.

Thanks everyone - and congratulations on that new baby who no doubt has lot to

teach about IE.
