Guest guest
Iodine docs think using just the iodide causes problems. This is why they only recommend and use the Lugols. I havent tried the SSKI, i have heard some good things about it. And not so good from others who seem to know their stuff say it just wasnt strong enough or the right combo of iodide to iodine. Not sure what his symptoms were when he got sick but Iodine (Lugols or SSKI or even iodide only solutions) can cause some massive dieoff and if the companion supplements arent being used a person can feel pretty sickly. If a person is able to move out the trash they wont feel as sick. Starting slow, increasing natural salt intake, Vit C, lots of water all help. For some, lowering the dosage helps. And for some, more iodine is the answer. Not less. This initial die off seems to last one to 2 weeks for those that get it. It hasnt happened again for or I, or from others that i have read about. Not saying it couldnt happen again, just that it doesnt appear to for most. Guest guest
What gains do you see with your son using iodine? My son is on Valtrex for years, like yours and he is on nature's thyroid and zero iodine ever. I want to add it in for him, but don't want to start at a high dose. > > > > Thanks very much Cheryl. Can you tell me which iodine board to go to please so I can do more research. I did a patch test with the tincture and don't seem deficient but I have lots of symptoms(severe hair loss, depression, anxiety, cold hands feet, sinus, ovarian cysts, yeast/sugar cravings, low energy, brain fog) and an autoimmune marker now. >

Guest guest
Thanks Amy. We're having some trouble with the paratrex. Hopefully the longer we do it the better it will be. Re: Vit A procotol and Parasites... I tried my best to get him started on the full moon dates. I wish I had used the activated charcoal then, cause I swear two of those and he's as calm as can be. I feel like maybe I didn't get all the toxins out when we used the Alinia, but now I know better!!! I'm using the Paratrex daily, and not having any trouble with it. I'm sure it's probably not low oxalate, but I'm doing the best I can--most things have GSE in them and he goes bananas on that stuff. Big citrus problems here. You know some big changes have been the humongous, greasy stools are gone and his belly is flat flat flat!!! Even on biotin that never happened for him! I"m really hoping the more we get rid of, the less histamine reactions he wil have as well. > > > > > > So I wrote a day or so ago and mentioned I think my son has parasites for these recent reasons: > > > > > > Chewing > > > Nose Picking > > > Tactile issues > > > Sound sensitivity (returned after going away about 80%) > > > VERBAL STIMMING > > > > > > I learned from Dr. Oz online that if you have high fecal fats (fats not digesting) your stool will float in the toilet and that is a parasite "flag". Guest guest
OK. What I have belived is that a parasitic virus causes autism. It is the virus that VALTREX is treating so effectively. But encephalitis is the brains reaction to this virus and the encephalits is causing: Brain swelling, unusual gait, and seizures. Does this make sense?Definition Encephalitis is irritation and swelling (inflammation) of the brain, usually due to infections. See also: Meningitis Causes, incidence, and risk factors Encephalitis is most often caused by a viral infection. Many types of viruses may cause it. Exposure to viruses can occur through: Breathing in respiratory droplets from an infected person Contaminated food or drink Insect bites Skin contact In rural areas, arboviruses -- carried by mosquitoes or ticks, or accidentally ingested -- are the most common cause. In urban areas, enteroviruses are most common, including: sackievirus Echovirus Poliovirus Other viruses that can cause encephalitis include: Adenovirus Cytomegalovirus Eastern Equine Encephalitis Virus Epstein-Barr virus Herpes simplex infection Measles Mumps Rabies Rubella Varicella (chickenpox or shingles) West Nile virus AIDS patients and others at high-risk can develop encephalitis due to parasites such as: Certain roundworms Cysticercosis Toxoplasmosis Although most forms of encephalitis are caused by viruses, the condition may also be caused by bacterial diseases, such as: Lyme disease Syphilis Tuberculosis Extremely rarely, an allergic reaction to vaccinations can cause encephalitis. Autoimmune disease and the effects of cancer can also cause encephalitis. Encephalitis is uncommon. The elderly and infants are more vulnerable and may have a more severe case of the disease. Symptoms When the virus enters the bloodstream, it may cause inflammation of brain tissue and surrounding membranes. White blood cells invade the brain tissue as they try to fight off the infection. The brain tissue swells (cerebral edema), which may destroy nerve cells, cause bleeding in the brain (intracerebral hemorrhage), and brain damage. Symptoms include: Clumsiness, unsteady gait Confusion, disorientation Drowsiness Fever Headache Irritability or poor temper control Light-sensitivity Stiff neck and back (occasionally) Vomiting Emergency symptoms: Loss of consciousness, poor responsiveness, stupor, coma Muscle weakness or paralysis Seizures Sudden change in mental functions: Diminished interest in daily activities " Flat " mood, lack of mood, or mood inappropriate for the situation Impaired judgment Inflexibility, extreme self-centeredness, indecisiveness, or withdrawal from social interaction Memory loss (amnesia), impaired short-term or long-term memory « Previous 1 2 3 Next » OK. Guest guest
The very best gains have been communication. Even better than the constant screams stopping. has always been able to understand what was said to him(even if most school personell thought i was dreaming). I have known this since he was 3. He knows, he cant respond. And he still cant talk, he seems to be trying more, mouthing the words even, but no words except from his Ipad.He preferred PECS on a card over voice output devices. He had about 10 words he could use reliably previous to iodine. He has about 100 now. He can maneuver his ipad to tell me what he wants, play games, pick out music. I still find it so odd to suddenly hear Love Shaq Or Lady Gaga coming from his room. He always had good adaptive skills, getting what he wants, leading your hand. He is less prompt dependent. He asks for his biomed. I just find that so thought provoking! Why he would ask for something that tastes so horrible! He knows it makes him feel better. He has a bm every day now. Gone are the 3 to 5 stretches of constipation. All this discussion has made me want to increase his dosage. I have gone slow up till now because i was worried he couldnt tell me what was goin on in his body. Several times along the way i have had to adjust my companion supplements to help with liver and adrenal issues. Healing can hurt. More C and Natural Salt.So i have been afraid to give him more Iodine, accepting taking it slow and easy. I dont know that he has the same issues as I do, in a lot of ways he does tho. I think i have more gall bladder and liver issues cause im OLD and been sick my entire life. And didnt even know it. I would probably have a label had i been born more recently. We dont have access to a good doctor, they are good for when you want MB12 or a blood test. But thats about it. Test his thyroid? " But it doesnt feel swollen so its probably fine! " I know the docs i have been to think i am a whacked out biomed freak (And i am !) nodding and smiling at me. So while it would be nice to have all the tests its not an option. Tho i actually think people rely too much on tests rather than how they feel. Behavior. Thats what docs should ask (and actually mean it) " how are you feeling? " . Not let me get my Rx pad. I am digressing, sorry! He hasnt had a cold or flu since we started. Me either. That is a bigggg plus cause the boy had a cold once a month forever. As did I. He has had one episode of getting sick. He layed around for about 4 days with a very slight fever. And when i mean he layed around he didnt get up except to use the toilet and wouldnt eat. It was a bit odd. I was just about to relent and take him to the doc but he snapped out of it. He also now knows how to say no. He has learned he can say no to going to school and didnt go most days for 2 months. He used protests mostly to get his point across until he decided he would say he wanted to go to the beach not school. He wanted to stay home, not school. And we were trying to allow his words to have meaning, so what he asked for he gets. Glad to say he has been back in school for a while now. He does like school, but he likes staying home, too. At school he is compliant, is doing his work like he did before(with biomed/no iodine). The newest thing is interaction with his peers. is in a class with mostly NT kids(with slight to moderate issues, all very verbal,no autism) he has been with since first grade (He is in 11th grade). He is still with the NT kids for Band, PE, Lunch, Reading. So they like him and help him and ignore his screams or outbursts of laughter. He basically tolerated them being there as long as they didnt get in his space. None of that changed with his previous biomed. Now, he is more interactive. He is playing games with them. He has shared his candy with a girl. In the past if someone tried to take his food or candy looks would kill first and then he would do what it takes to get it back, he would literally want it out of your mouth. He wouldnt give up. He participates. He has initiated alot of interaction with me too. He will sit and watch tv with me, American Idol is his favorite! And CSI. He still has issues with public bathrooms, never been sure what that was about, the acoustics or just being in a different place, something else he always hated. Tho that one was improving a little before iodine. I didnt have to drag him into places screaming, just drag. Now he walks even tho he fusses about it. He still screams occassionally. But not without reason. He still wants everything in its place. He still has waxy ears.(And why i think worms!) He will occassionally have a few blemish when he used to have really bad acne. He doesnt get uncontrollable giggles anymore. Not too long ago he was laughing and giggling, and i thought crap hes yeasty again, but he was laughing at what he had done to his game. It was unreal! Mostly i just see a different kid.A kid that doesnt sit on the floor rocking for hours and hell to pay if you try to stop it. No daily meltdowns. He has had maybe 2 meltdowns in the last year(and both for a reason). He use to have one at least daily. Total, hours long meltdowns. No stopping it till he stopped, anything i tried was pointless or made him escalate. Usually had no idea why at all. The last one was so unexpected it shocked me. I had almost forgotten what that felt like or they even happened. Thats what i can think of now. I am goin to increase his dosage and give him the Walnut Hulls supplement and see what happens next! Nothing wrong with taking it slow. How old is your son? I dont think its good to fluctuate the dosage, thats just my opinion some people even pulse dose.(Very low dosage during week, High dosage on weekend). I always prefer slow and steady. I have forgotten the iodine dosage a few times and it seems to result in being tired. has never been on Valtrex (doc wouldnt go that far) Make sure you give all the companion supplements (Mag, Se, C, Natural Salt, B2, Niacin, lots of water. Good food. Sunshine! And/Or D3. Keep giving anything you were already giving that you think is working. I also give Enzymes, Tyrosine, Inositol and B-Right Combo. Mostly cause he still has a limited diet and wont touch a vegatable. If you dont eat it, you have to supp it, is my motto. eats mostly chicken, hamburger, rice and pototoes. A little cheese. Enchiladas. He use to eat noodles but doesnt seem to want them anymore. I eat a fairly healthy diet if you dont count icecream, try to avoid gluten, love bread but dont eat it daily anymore. Diets have never been my strong point and i am to the point cooking is just a pain! I prefer take out. I know, thats bad, probably a good thing i live where there are no restaurants or Mcs or Taco Bell.I know you diet people are cringing, sorry ! Just flat out never been able to do a diet, not even an attempt at thinking of doing a diet. I am in awe of those that do. The Natures Thyroid is bovine in nature. I use Nutri-Meds Porcine Thyroid for me, which seems to be the preferred by some (if not doing Armour). The bovine is suppose to cause more stomach upset. Personally i think kids shouldnt be on thyroid replacement unless absolutely the labs (read correctly) say they need it. Cause it basically takes over for the thyroid and when the thyroid thinks it doesnt need to work, it doesnt. And kids have so little of the accumulated years of damage that we as parents have that their thyroid should be encouraged to work on it's own (which Iodine and Se will do, and tyrosine). Adults with damaged thyroids on the other hand, by taking the replacement help their thyroids rest so they can heal. It takes a long time to heal a thyroid, but it can be done. I also think really high dosages of iodine users probably need Natural thyroid and tyrosine, too. Not on the protocol, just what seems to be the norm of those using it. And please dont quote me, this is my own thoughts, not etched in science stone. And another disclaimer, everyone has their own experiences and triumphs and problems so ours may be a totally unique once in a blue moon occurance. The healing does seem to be happening for other's too so i tend to think we arent special. I could be wrong, have been once or twice before ;-) Sorry this got so long, never at a loss for words! Guest guest
 I'm happy that iodine has helped your son!        Please keep in mind that his long ago   constant screaming was not behavioral, but severe stomach pain. Iodine does kill parasites.  It does not kill them all. chlorophyll found in green veggies (which he does not eat) also kills parasites. And, of course, wormwood, black walnut also. And cloves kill the eggs.

Guest guest
Its a good point about the difference between behavioral screaming and pain screaming. The screams and shouts and giggles all seem to have their own pitch, tones and notes. It's his language. I think i have finally learned it, not something i could understand when he was 6. Most people cannot tell the difference in his sounds. But then American Idol has proven that most people are tone deaf. So while i do think some of the screaming was due to pain i dont think it all was nor all from pain in his stomach. Doesnt mean another kid's isnt all in his stomach, its a definite possibliy. Some is communication. Some is cause he is happy. Some is cause someone moved something and he didnt like it (PANDAS?) So many reasons. I have always thought the constant realllly high pitch came from his brain. Brain pain. A neurotransmitter problem (which can begin in the gut for some), or a viral problem (virus in his brain) and PANDAS. Now I think parasites too. Or a combo of all. The last most likely. He rarely has what i would call a stomach ache, when he does he rubs his belly alot. When he was in a midst of the what i think of pain screams he rubs his head alot. He wants me to rub his head. So i deduce its in his head. I could be wrong. Perhaps he had less hardy parasites in his gut which are gone now (the normal bm's) but the brain ones persist. Iodine will kill all parasites. There is research about that.It was used for hundreds of years for that purpose before the new Rx inventions. Its the quanitity of iodine that you have to take(that docs then prescribed, so i guess that was what they felt was needed?) to kill all of them that i have a problem with. They use to Rx 3 tsps of Lugols iodine for worms, several times a day for 3 weeks. OMG that is soo much iodine. I cant even imagine havin the nerve to take that much. So i hope the Walnut hulls work ;-) I wish i could figure out the iodine content of them, most say about 1500ppm but it can varry down to 100ppm. And i sorta understand the ppm part, but cant figure out just how many millions are in a walnut hull sample. (Maybe my parasite filled brain cant do the math). Interesting about the chlorophyll. Didnt know it killed parasites, knew it had alot of other good stuff and helped with Metals, which is obviously not a metal excreter. The Jarrow Chlorella formula is what i used, but havent it in a long time. It was part of the " protocol " that i use to give him that did make some difference. I should probably give it to him again. I am fairly good at hiding carrots (mashed works best) in hamburger just dont let him see a piece of it or see me do it. Nothing green tho. He knows. Wont touch it. Green has always been a weird one. There was a veggie burger he would eat but they stopped making them. They were gross but he ate them. And bananas. The site of them use to make him literally gag. Almost vomit. Food has always been and still is an issue. So i need the clove. Never looked into clove much, but have seen people talk about it a few times. Thanks :-) Cheryl > > I'm happy that iodine has helped your son! > Please keep in mind that his long ago > constant screaming was not behavioral, > but severe stomach pain.
Guest guest
Once is not enough ;-) That list does move very fast. It is hard to follow with so many posts, but it also means there is alot of first hand information and people usually ask good questions with alot of smart people answering them. I tend to just find certain peoples posts cause i know they will usually have good words of wisdom. If i have a specific concern i usually do a word search. It would take all day to read everything posted there! And here too sometimes! What did you find complicated? Dosage? The companions? Arent yall already on biomed? (I cant remember, sorry!) If so, adding iodine is fairly easy, most of the same supplements for the Iodine protocol are on the various autism related protocols. If not, learning a good supplement program is a good idea. It helps all kids and adults, too. Enough nutrition is not in most food, tho juicing might help it be enough, starting to get intrigued about juicing. Guest guest
What was complicated was all the back and forth controversy, stuff way over my head, referring to websites and books I hadn't read, and then when conversation got interesting, the moderator putting the smack down on OT conversations. I was actually learning from the OT stuff. So I turned the mail off. Joined the OT list.Since then we found out my daughter has Hashi's, so I don't want to add that to the mix till we do bloodwork to see if the LDN is helping with the antibodies. I have been using the minimally processed sea salt more regularly. Â Once is not enough ;-) That list does move very fast. Guest guest
I seriously hate the stopping of threads! SO annoying. I sorta get the point,(it does mean lots of posts about non iodine) but think its more annoying to constantly see posts to go to the other board than the added posts. And well, it all goes together ! So not really " off " topic in my opinion. Except maybe the pretty long multiple post discussions on crops and food supply I thought i was the only one bugged by that! Guest guest
No... I mean how often have you spoken to someone in person and the conversation diverts to something else,... do you stop them mid sentence and tell them you cannot finish this conversation with them b/c it has strayed off topic? I want to be able to associate things with iodine supp... if someone tells me their foot cramped up and a couple other peopls say hey yeah that happened too... well maybe we will discover there is a side effect to look out for... You can't do that if you are only ever discussing " iodine protocol. " That's why I love THIS list. People accept off-topic conversations as normal and just use their delete key at home. :-) Â I seriously hate the stopping of threads! SO annoying.
