hi ,sons labs were normal for thyroid fuction, but after reading david brownsteins book, iodin why you need it and cant live without it available from amazon,i came to understand that iodine is a major player, that if we are deficent we cant detox,we have tried so many protocols with our son and have had to stop ,as his body couldnt handle it even with ll the supports in place, now i am thinking iodine or lack of it could be major cause of this.

bio energy is what i am talking about when i say energy tested, we are in ireland and have practitioners for bio energy, not sure where you are located but i am sure if you google bio energy practitioners in your area you will find one

normal thyroid function tests do not mean you are not deficent in iodine, wish i knew all this years ago,but its never to late

>> Very good just started our son on supplement last week had him energy tested and he lacking normal thyroid labs dont mean that there is not a deficency of iodine., sorry if I'm asking an obvious question (I'm running on about 2 hours sleep/night right now for about a week straight so my brain's not the sharpest right now) -- but what does this mean?  What is " energy tested " ?  And when you said that he's " lacking normal thyroid labs " -- do you mean that his thyroid levels were off but his iodine levels were ok?  And when you say that you started your son on supplement last week, do you mean iodine?  If his iodine levels were ok, do you still supplement iodine if thyroid levels aren't where they should be?

This thyroid/iodine discussion just blows me away.  I really want to understand as much about it as possible.

Was that solomon wickey.just read book by david brownstein iodine whyyou need it and cant live without it. Very good just started our sonon supplement last week had him energy tested and he lacking normalthyroid labs dont mean that there is not a deficency of iodine

alberta---she just needed some period marks in-between sentences:)

She meant that just b/c you have " normal " thyroid labs doesn't mean that there

isn't a iodine deficiency. Labs can give false results a lot.

Look up some things on muscle testing. Wickey uses it to tell you what

is wrong with your body---the cause of your symptoms. He will hold a supplement

against your body and the theory is that if your body is LACKING it, then it

WANTS the supplement and when you hold your arm out at a straight angle, he

applies downward pressure while YOU exert back pressure.

The idea is that if you body NEEDS the supplement your arm will resist the

pressure and stay strong, and if you DON'T, then your arm will go weak despite

you exerting back pressure. It's pretty cool/bizzare. So if you hold a can of

Coke to your body, your arm will obviously go weak b/c Coke will KILL you!!

Cheryl,I had just picked up a lugol's solution from Medisca.  It was the only one available from the store I was at.  However, when I got home, I just noticed that it says it's for compounding.  Is all lugol's solution 2%.  This one doesn't state it on the bottle and I just did a quick google and I wasn't able to make heads or tails of the information given on their site.  It just says it's a " strong iodine solution " .

Did I buy the wrong one?  Or does this mean that there's higher than 2% iodine in there?

The Lugols can be used Transdermally. It works out more expensively than ingesting because the uptake is only about 3/4mg per drop. So if you load a qtip with iodine and paint areas of the body you would be getting about 4mg per qtip. (My fuzzy math, definetly not 100% accurate, but dont really feel exact is necessary, close enough is good).

Povidone, which you can get at most pharmacys can be used transdermally. Povidone is 1% iodine. Tinctures can be used transdermally but they are more drying cause of the alcohol. Povidone and tinctures should never be ingested.

They woke up in awesome moods and have been playing nicely all morning. If this is from the iodine, I wish I had started earlier! :) Can you give me a link or the name of a transdermal product, and also tll me when I should apply, where (on the body), and how often? Thanks! You have been extremely helpful!

7% is really strong. It can hurt the skin if applied at that strength. You can

add distilled water to it for drinking or clean water for painting. If you put

the iodine in a larger bottle then add that same amount in the iodine bottle of

distilled water you would then have 3.5%, still a little strong for skin use but

not too bad. Are you sure its Lugols ? Did you get it in the US ? Curious cause

i didnt think 7% was available anymore.
