Judy,

I don't have an answer, but I was just going to order some of the coco

kefir. Can you share your experience? I have always given probiotics in

capsule form.....did you notice a difference when you gave the coco kefir?

Thanks,

Sandy

my specific question- and then the server stalled. Anyway, does anyone make

their own coconut kefir? I mean using the green coconuts, getting out the water

and buying a starter, then fermenting it, etc.? I saw how to do it on the body

Ecology diet- lengthy but possible. I have since bought a wonderful GFCFSF

everything free! premade coconut kefir through a different company, but had to

pay $$$ to have it overnited. It is fantastic, and for those in the midwest

the shipping is reasonable, it is called Cocokefir. Developed by parents of an

autistic girl, and although this is a fantastic product it is expensive for me

in VA, and wanted to try and make my own. Anyone tried to make their own

Coconut Kefir? I wanted help with a Gluten, Casein, Soy free version. Thanks

so much(:

The cocunut is not from a can.

Boil water and add to ground coconut or mix in a blender.

Then strain and you have coconut.

You can then use kefir starter.

Hello Judy!

Yes, we make our coconut kefir at home and it's actually really easy! I

followed the directions on the BodyEcologyDiet website along with some special

instructions from our DAN doctor

It's this easy to make it:

1. Buy a " new coconut " , which means the outside brown part has been chopped off,

and it's usually wrapped in cellophane when you buy it at the store. White on

outside means more fresh, brown/pink means getting old.

2. Slice off maybe 1/2 and inch of the bottom of coconut with a serated knife

until you find the little hole or knot at the bottom (easy instructions and

photos on the BodyEcologyDiet website).

3. Poke something into the hole to open it up a little, then pour all of the

coconut water into a jar, running through a strainer to remove any chunks.

4. Empty a capsule of a high-powered probiotic (like VSL#3) into the jar, and

add some juice or a teaspoon of honey which provides sugar/food for the

probiotics.

5. Cover and let sit/ferment on the counter for 36 hours, then it's ready to

drink! Keep refrigerated after fermenting it and it will last for a few weeks.

The whole process takes less than two minutes once you're comfortable with it.

Very easy!

We traveled to Minnesota a few months ago and purchased the CocoKefir product

there at a specialty store. That was great too, but I find the homemade recipe

to be so simple that I prefer it. :)

I hope that is helpful!

Hi ,I am making my own coconut kefir from young green coconut. it is easy to make it and much cheaper. I got the starter kit from Bodyecology  and I been using it with both of my kids. They got used to it.I live in Florida so i have easy access to  young green coconut, but you can get  coconut water from whole foods and use that water, or just ask your grocer to order you young green coconut. If you have any question feel free to email me.

good luck Tunde

Hi everyoe,

I just wanted to second the question of whether we can make coconut kefir

without using a commercial starter kit? The kits seem to use acidopholous . . .

or was it lactobacilli? Whatever the case, I have tons of it because my son

gets loads of probiotics every day. Can I just dump two capsules (or 4 or 6) of

the prebiotic along with say some Biotagen (a prebiotic to feed the probiotic)

into my green coconut water (bought them this weekend jumping the gun a bit

because I don't have starter)? Or will I end up with swill?

Thanks everyone,

Thanks everyone for your wonderful feedback, it helps me so much(:

Sandy-

I think my son has better attention, eyecontact, and his stimming is way down.

We take other biomedical/antifungals etc, but this seems to be really adding a

much needed increase in beneficial bacteria. He seems less foggy. Also he is

pooping daily, and it is more formed. It tastes pretty good, from what I

understand most kefir are difficult to drink- very sour.

Hope this helps!

I have done - open my own coconuts, use the tetra packs such as ONE and bought

cocobiotic from BED. I really like all the kefirs and too me it is one of the

best - basic, ground work treatments.BED also has a new frozen organic coconut

water for sale - haven't tried that yet.

Once you get the hang of it - it is easy -

What about using water kefir grains.all you do is add the YCW to the kefir

grains and leave on countertop for 24-48 hours.there is a yshoo group re kefir

> > >

> > > Hi! I have looked through some old posts, and did not really see an

answer to my specific question- and then the server stalled. Anyway, does

anyone make their own coconut kefir? I mean using the green coconuts, getting

out the water and buying a starter, then fermenting it, etc.? I saw how to do

it on the body Ecology diet- lengthy but possible. I have since bought a

wonderful GFCFSF everything free! premade coconut kefir through a different

company, but had to pay $$$ to have it overnited. It is fantastic, and for

those in the midwest the shipping is reasonable, it is called Cocokefir.

Developed by parents of an autistic girl, and although this is a fantastic

product it is expensive for me in VA, and wanted to try and make my own. Anyone

tried to make their own Coconut Kefir? I wanted help with a Gluten, Casein, Soy

free version. Thanks so much(:
