Guest guest
Do you ever get the feeling that you're overreacting? That what annoys you shouldnt? That you are the only one to get pissed off and perhaps everyone thinks you're being silly? I have neighbours that are the trailer trash from hell. Loud music every night, throwing rubbish and cigarette butts into my yard, shopping trolleys onto my verge, drunk on the street, carloads of hoons and fighting out the front etc etc. I was looking through some websites for ideas on how to get rid of them. Not bury-in-the-backyard rid of them, just how to go about complaining to their landlord etc. I found a great website where people share their experiences of what upsets them, and WOW, some people really DO overreact to the extreme! Most are legitimate complaints, but Im so glad that I can tell the rediculous apart, and that I am NO WAY LIKE THEM!!! http://www.howtogetridofstuff.com/people/how-to-get-rid-of-noisy-neighbors/ One person complained about someone walking their dogs on her street. Walking dogs!!!! Because it made her dogs bark!! And that they " let " their dogs urinate while on a walk - WTF?!? Another complains about people " walking heavily " in the appartment above her. She tried to tell the people how they should walk. They didnt appear to do anything else noisy - just walk. Its nice to have a giggle about rediculous people, and get some perspective that what annoys me isnt so rediculous.
Guest guest
Truly, it seems that in a lot of cases its " one man's meat is another man's poison. " Crowds don't bother me, traffic doesn't bother me, the sound of children playing doesn't bother me, but someone walking heavily in the apartment above me, got to me. To me that felt like " Chinese water torture " or like living inside a drum; the pounding went on so relentlessly that it interfered with relaxing and sleeping. That experience has made me a better neighbor, I think; I learned to walk softly (toe-heel, toe-heel) as I am now an upstairs neighbor. And I made DARN sure that when I was ready to buy my own place to find a top floor condo so I wouldn't have to endure that kind of overhead pounding again. My friend J made the mistake of buying a middle-floor condo and now has the drumming of heavy feet overhead. I've visited her there, and its worse because of the wooden floors; J says it goes on until the wee hours every night. I have a feeling that when the real-estate market improves she is going to sell that place ASAP. My Sister got so tired of obnoxious, messy, noisy neighbors that she bought a chunk of land (over 2 dozen acres) and built her home in the middle of it, so she is virtually neighbor-free now. Lucky duck! I guess it just depends on what your " hot button " is, whether something or other triggers a reaction or not. (Unlike my nada, who seemed to over-react to anything and everything, hence the " walking on eggshells. " ) -Annie > > Do you ever get the feeling that you're overreacting?
