Guest guest
((((((Doug)))))) I'm so sorry Doug =( It is so so hard to come to terms with the loss of a beloved pet. I wish I knew what I could say to help, but I know nothing really can, so if you can, try to just spend the time you have left with her. I'm sure she was a very lucky dog to have you for her human! Guest guest
((((((((Doug))))))) I'm so sorry. Yes, it does suck to lose our dear Little Friends who look up to us with such trust and love. That pure, unconditional love they give from their hearts is like a kind of miracle, seems to me. Her long sleep will be sweet because she had you as her Great Friend who loved her back. -Annie > > My little friend s name is Shadow. Guest guest
For with my dog, I am truly able, KO aside, to believe that she loves me without reservation. Doug, I am so truly sorry for your friend and that you have to watch her suffer. I have a wonderful husband of 35 years, three wonderful sons and once I had a dog, and he loved me with such devotion and purity that I mourned him as much as the aunt who helped raise me and put herself between me and fada over and over. She lived in another town and died a year before my dog. When my dog died more people in my home town sent me cards than when my aunt died. I have been very lucky with my husband and sons and my whole family will attest that there is nothing as wonderful as the love of a dog. You help all of us so very much. I wish there were more I could do for you right now. Kay

Guest guest
I'm so sorry for your loss, Doug. I've experienced that same thing every time I lost one of my babies. To me they are my children as I have no physical children. Of course they give unconditional love and it doesn't get better than that. Know that the love you shared will continue after the change called death and your Shadow will be with you always. I have a wall of 8X10 pictures of all my babies who passed in the hallway going up to my bedroom. It helps me to see these pictures (not that I have to have anything to keep their memory alive in my heart). It might help you to have a picture of your Shadow blown up to 8X10 and hung someplace for you to see her. When I lost my Butchie at the age of 12 1/2 years (I had him 11 1/2 yrs. in July), I went to the local animal shelter and adopted another baby girl I named Ginger who turned out to be a real love. Adopt a baby from the shelter near you and save a life. I do it for a number of reasons - to save a life, to help another being on this planet and to honor Butchie or another pet I lost so that his or her legacy of unconditional love and caring continues. Many blessings in your time of sorrow. My heart goes out to you.

Guest guest
Doug - I'm so sorry to hear that Shadow is not doing well. Our pets give us so much and ask so little - it is a privilege and an honor to have their devotion to us, and it's so painful when we have to assist them at the end of their lives. Yet it's our final act of kindness to them. I know this will be wrenching for you, and wish you strength. Let us know how you're doing. Guest guest
Doug, I sure am sorry to hear it. Border Collies are great dogs. Have you taken her to the vet? *Sometimes* fluid therapy can make a difference at least for a little bit. Considering her age and what you're describing, I don't know that I'd be too optimistic about that, though. It's really hard to lose a loyal friend you've had for fifteen years. Animals are special in ways that few people ever are. We will all be thinking about you here. --.
