Guest guest
It was neither Dr. Hahn or Dr. Cappello. I prefer not to list his name publicly. If you still want his name, email me directly. I hope you get your insurance in order and everything works out for the best. I know a bunch of people have gone to the Dr. Kim Freed informed you about at Nemours in Orlando. I tried to make an appointment with him before I flew to Iowa and they told me I'd have to wait over a month--not appealing in our particular case. Incidentally, Dr. Ponseti was very disappointed when I told him that. Best of luck and please keep us posted. Guest guest
Joyce, The information is most welcome. I am trying to digest it all. I don't know if Mom will agree to more chemo, because the oncologist has not mentioned that it would be necessary. He should have told her, I think. Insurance of any kind, govt. or private, does not want to pay for much. Medicare certainly pays very little of the amount charged. It is good to know that is tolerating chemo well. How long must he continue it? Sharon
Guest guest
Sharon, He did not say how long but I imagine as long as he can tolerate it. The Oncologist actually told him if he wanted he could try the Avastin all by itself if he wanted. We already knew it is more effective if it is used in conjunction with chemo. I don't know how long he will tolerate it but hope long enough to do some good. We talked with Dr. Fuss after his radiation yesterday and I wanted to know exactly what he was doing this time. He said he is radiating the same right lung that has the tumor from hell. The IMRT has that tumor under control but another one surfaced right next to it. He said has 2 tumors, one in each lung and each one is right next to the airway. For this reason he does not feel comfortable treating both at one time. He wants us back in 4 weeks for another PET and CT and then if everything looks OK he will do the left lung. There are a couple of Radiologist doing both at the same time but he does not feel comfortable doing so. I did ask him for Barry if there was anyone in Canada doing this procedue and he said that Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto is doing the IMRT and SR. He mention a couple of others but I did not get a chance to write them down. I am just throwing this into this message for our Canada members. Best Wishes Joyce > Joyce, > > The information is most welcome. I am trying to digest it all. Guest guest
that's true about " what happens in austin stays in austin. " i was told that some of my partners in crime and very notorious supervisors whose names will remain hidden, were at coyote ugly. that's a lot of good examples that supervisors are setting when they take " belly shots " (i think that's what they are called) ________________________________________ THIS EMAIL DOES NOT REFLECT THE VIEWS OF GOLDSTAR EMS
