Guest guest
When I first began IE I tried to apply the Principles at 'face value', in other words like a 'rule'. Reading that eating a my computer wasn't a good idea sounded like - " Don't eat while on the computer. " to me. Which I tried and of course rebelled to in an amazingly short time. What I didn't understand, at first, was that the Principles were suggestions - guidelines really. The WHERE of eating wasn't the important thing so much as the HOW, which turned out to = mindfulness vs. distracted. I am now secure enough in my eating to blend my morning check in on my computer with a cup of coffee and something to eat that goes with the coffee. I don't consider this 'breakfast' in the classic sense though there are times when it is a combo of eat and run due to time constraints. The important lesson I learned is that its mighty difficult to pay attention to feeding my body when my mind is working on other thoughts. I've also gotten comfortable with just 'knowing' (and trusting) my hunger patterns to attend to them without over thinking them (like I used to). Soooo this morning I had a lovely slice of apple pie with my coffee, right here at my computer. Thank you IE for being so flexible and patient with me as I 'got' what you were saying to me ;-) Katcha IEing since March 2007
