Guest guest
Fay, I would think that a large part of your anxiety is coming from the fact that your husband lost his job. Your mind probably is racing because you are trying to worry about all of your problems. I don't know however how one can stop that as I know. You are anxiety attacks and I would think that the Ativan would help but again I know that when you are like you are nothing helps. Can you call the doctor's office or the doctor on call and see if maybe you need a higher dose of Ativan. This happened to me about 6 years ago and it took awhile to get over it. I could not control my mind. It took about 2 weeks to get over it. I was always paying attention to my emotions and not to real happenings. I was taken off of Xanax and the problem soon was not a problem. I can't tell you if Xanax is your problem as I am not a doctor but I would think about talking to him about it. Guest guest
Hello Fay Could it be the medication that you are on that is causing some of the problems you are feeling. The reason I ask is that, when I was prescribed Amotryptoline, I found my mind was working overtime and i couldn't rest or concentrate. I have found that other medications have an opposite affect on me than what it does for others. This could be the case for you to think about. I watch how I react when I am on new medication and if I have an adverse affect from it, I stop taking the medication and contact my GP as soon as possible and try something else. Don't let your weight get you down as I too am overweight, mostly due to the inactivity we have due to the pain we are in. I found a great book that gave me a positive outlook on life it is " How To Stop Worry And Start Living " by Dale Carnegie. I know how depressing our health can make us but we need to fight it and enjoy every minute of our lives as we can as we only have this one life to live with all its ups and downs. Its good we have this Internet we can air our views with those who understand as our families must find it hard to cope at times knowing there is nothing they can do to help us. I hope you will find something of what I have written to help you. I truly understand what you are going through as I once felt as you do and I have turned my life around to a more positive outlook in life and enjoy what I can when I can. Fay, I have experienced much of what you describe, too. I was diagnosed by my psychiatrist last November as having panic attacks, chronic anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It sounds like you are having trouble with both panic attacks and anxiety attacks -- they are different. With a panic attack, the fear comes out of nowhere -- you may have been peacefully doing your thing, grocery-shopping, reading a book, washing dishes, and BLAMMO, suddenly this terror out of nowhere. In my own panic attacks I have become convinced that I am about to die. My throat closes up, I feel as if my temperature has risen 50 degrees, and I just lose it. I've gone so far as to go to a neighbor's apartment and plead with them to call 911, also did that when my mother was visiting one time. Anxiety attacks are different because you know the source of the anxiety. This trip to Alabama sounds like a primo source for your anxiety attacks. They're triggered by something you dread, something you recognize but can't really control your reaction to. Your husband's job situation is also a major trigger. I wish I knew what would truly help right this very moment. I am on Prozac and Klonopin for my problems, and they do help. But I have the occasional breakthrough anxiety attack, and all I can ever do is just ride it out. I have become extremely control-oriented about my environment. I can leave the house now, and work, but those were impossible for me a year ago. Please, I hope your trip goes well, and that your anxiety stays at a tolerable level. Good luck and god bless. *hugs* Em ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It is the tale, not he who tells it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Guest guest
How true, Lorraine, That is all we can do is be positive and live every minute of our life the best we can. It is hard on our families, but it is harder on us and having this group help us, me , to try and accept it. It is so painful and continuous that sometimes you want to give up but God has a plan. A friend got me a book on how to manage fibromyalgia and I wanted to share the intro with all of you. It starts out with a letter to fibro, the illness. Dear Fibromyalgia, If you and I are to be constant companions for the rest of my life, I think we should be on speaking terms. First, I must let you know that you will never be able to possess me. You may at times have control of my body, but never my mind or my faith. Also I am not a quitter. There will always be a battle going on between us. Sometimes you think you are going to win, but it is I who will win the war. For you see, my other companion is God. Written by Peggy J. Donahue. This is the beginning of the book so I cannot yet recommend it to anyone. But if the rest is as helpful as I find the beginning. I am anxious to get started. God Bless you all. Guest guest
Hi , I think I know the pain you are talking about. It's usually caused by sleeping wrong, carrying something heavy, or just moving wrong (another wonderful part of fibro). All I can tell you is it usually only lasts about 2-3 days. Guest guest
Hello , I also am unable to work. I left my full time job this past June. I'm still trying to find a good doctor for me. My gp is pretty good, but I just overwhelm her with all of my problems. I don't think whether you have fibro or not depends on what kind of family or how good you been. My dh and I had just gotten to the " good " point in life where we weren't struggling from paycheck to paycheck, we were doing a little traveling, and running all over going to various festivals having fun when I finally got to the point where I had to give it all up. I get mad about the " why me " part sometimes, but it's better if you don't dwell on that and learn to appreciate the advantages you have now. Stuff like the ability to appreciate things more when you can go do something you normally wouldn't be able to do, or the slower pace you live now. I'm still working on that, but am definitely happier now that I'm not working anymore. What kind of direction are you specifically looking to be directed?
