Guest guest
I caught myself realizing that I have relaxed a few out eating 'rules' that I had embraced for most of my life. I've slowly released 'meal mentality' - set times; balanced meals; leftovers as inferior to newly cooked and such. These along with Clean Plate Club and Dessert being 'deserved' aren't really about dieting, but how I had come to view eating as it should be done. Having eaten cheesecake and pizza for breakfast, snacked on broccoli in the evening and all the rule busting eating I have done since I started IE are just now beginning to feel normal for me. I still have those old thoughts pop into mind now and then but its usually quickly followed by am " Are you crazy? " and a mental PHEW! for not being sucked into actions that I know are ineffectual as well as hurtful to me. Just celebrating this moment - hope you have one for yourself too. ehugs, Katcha IEing since March 2007
Guest guest
Hi Katcha, I've been thinking about your post, and all the " shoulds " surrounding eating. Here are some more: eating your main meal before eating dessert, eating " a good breakfast " first thing in the morning (and some folks even going so far as to say that you'll live longer if you do), having protein with every meal. I'd never really considered this before, and am hopefully letting some of that go too. Having cheesecake and pizza for breakfast sounds fine to me....and I love your response of " Are you crazy? " Thanks for sharing! Tilley > > I caught myself realizing that I have relaxed a few out eating 'rules' that I had embraced for most of my life. Guest guest
Thanks Tilley for the supportive words. Its a real head shaker to me - all the rules we have had imposed and accepted EXCEPT for the main and only valid one that we never had to learn - keeping in touch/tune with our own bodies! Instead that got discounted, pushed aside and demonized as some sort of evil sin that could only be exorcized by some expert (who was another human ignoring their own body . . . ). Had to smile when I realized that the real response I learned from my past was " Are you stupid? " Talk about making one feel less able to manage your own life. Well the joke is now on 'them' - phooey on your advice and shoulds! Life with IE is Immensely Enjoyable and I'm not about to be sucked back into the vortex of self loathing and torture that is not appreciating the body I've got. Cheers all - Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Hi Katcha, > > I've been thinking about your post, and all the " shoulds " surrounding eating.
