Guest guest
Carole, I'm just getting caught up on email. I'm so glad you wrote this. What a great subject to bring up. Many of us big girls ate to comfort ourselves in our younger years and it continued on to what you see today. If one has ever felt like they didn't have enough love it's really easy to try to make up for that deprivation by giving ourselves other things that make you feel loved and cared for. This includes food, and anything else that is something valuable to each individual. You should see the number of spectacular shoes I had over the years and most of them ended up being uncomfortable. But they were a thrill to buy. I just got rid of 20 pairs, most I've never worn. I buy too many clothes too but I will often check out the goodwill for the chance at a real treasure. Food yes, if there's a sale, I will buy more. 10 for $10 means I need to buy all 10 and even if I didn't have it on my list sometimes I can't pass it up. All our lives commercials have shouted that food equals love right? Nothing says lovin like something from the oven. Remember that? I've been watching Hoarders on tv and seems like most of them became hoarders after a loss of someone or something very dear to them. So yes, clutter and fat can easily go hand in hand. I've been doing a lot of stuff purging and learning to buy smarter in the grocery store. It does feel good to get a grip on the situation but I have a long long way to go too. I need to stop buying hangers! I have a walk in closet bigger than a bathroom and all 5 clothes racks are so full I can hardly fit more hangers but still I buy the clothes! Better than food, right? Sunny Re: Re: Tossing food... food overflow... Tai, I realy believe there is a link between clutter and weight. We hold on to the extra weight the same as we hold on to the extra stuff. I was on a list that dealt with clutter.....many of the members said they were also overfat. And when something is on sale, I have a tendency to buy too much (although I'm getting better at judging just how much of the stuff I need to buy.) My kids always laugh when they look in the fridge or pantry, they can tell what was on sale. Carole
