Guest guest
Are you sure the baby has diarrhea? That's exactly what I thought with my firstborn, tilI learned that is what bf poopies look like. Is is mustardy colored with little seeds? If so, that is normal. Is there a bm at every diaper change? If so that is normal. BF bowel movements are a lot different looking than the meconium you are probably used to seeing. HTH. Joan

Guest guest
Hi Krista, breastfed babies(newborns) have bowel movements quit often, and it is runny. My daughter went every time I nursed her, and then again in between nursings, she was always having bowel movements. breastfed babies very rarely have diarreh. Guest guest
First of all if its truly diahrea, she needs to go to the doc ASAP.. I cannot stress this enough.. If the stools are green spinach like with water, or seedy looking, then this is probably normal, and maybe she is trying to get rid of bilirubin.. Good luck to you Christi

Guest guest
That's ok too! Sometimes it's like that. My ds was very liquidy for weeks, it got absorbed right into the diaper. It's not diarrhea, bf babies rarely get diarrhea. Keep an eye out for other signs of illness and dehydration but I really don't think it's diarrhea. Now that my ds is 3 months old (today) he has been having "seedier" poops, but they are still very liquidy. Michele, mom of Arran 12-27-93, Keely 12-5-97 & Rowan 3-15-00! Guest guest
Krista, You should take her to be seen by her pediatrician. Newborn babies shouldn't have diarrhea. Has your milk come in?
