Guest guest
Hi Grace, If ever was a time when I didn't want to divulge how I prepare my fruits and veg for juicing...ugh. Now you guys will know without a doubt that I am super anal retentive and a tad bit over the top...It just sounds like a lot, but once you get used to it, really, it's not a lot of work. I only buy organic. If you don't -- there are ways to get rid of the pesticides. If you need me to write up directions (from a book I have!) I can do that. I soak all my veggies/fruits in a soak to get rid of any unwanted 'buggers' - for a period of about 20 min. (I make it daily - It's a gallon of water with 5 drops of MMS (water purifier) - I put it in my glass one gallon pitcher. This solution will rid the veggies/fruits of protazoa, yeast, fungi, parasites, etc.) I peel my pears and apples. (I also cut them so that I am not juicing the seeds) If there are 'bad' spots, I cut them out. I scrub my carrots with a vegetable scrubber. I cut off the tops and a small portion of the bottom. Despite all this 'work' - It only takes me about 15 min from start to finish to prepare all the veggies/fruit, and cleanup. (I get out a bowl for the water, fill it, put the fruit/veggies in, and then go do something else) I give Sam about 10 drops of B12. I was giving him 5, but he seems like he needs more. It doesn't contain folic acid. He gets juicer juice that contains that...so I just decided to give him B12 only. I may change my mind, but for right now, that is what I am doing. I am just trying to be 'preventative'...but you know, I think he's low, because he kinda slowed up on his weight gain...so when I added it in, his weight sped up again. I weigh him weekly, and yes, I have a chart... (My sister (she's a nurse)says I need to throw away the scale! GAH! I only weigh him because I had so many issues with Jimmy and Maddie over weight, I just wanted to be on top of it this time.) I swear, I was never like this before, and I keep it pretty well hidden from my friends and family. Although, I think they are on to me... laura > > Hi ! > I'm juicing for my 10 months baby and he loved it!! I'm so glad that I bought a > juicer! Even my husband drinks it! Guest guest
, I would love to know how you get rid of pesticides if it's not too much work for you. I'm trying to use organic but sometimes it's not possible. Thanks Dianne > > > > > > Hi ! > > > I'm juicing for my 10 months baby and he loved it!! I'm so glad that I > > bought a > > > juicer! Guest guest
You know, I don't know. If what you are saying is that his blood serum is high - then yes, I would tend to agree that his body has it, just doesn't have enough resources to get it where it needs to be. With Rob, (my 26 yr old brother), he too had very good blood serum levels but showed every sign of deficiency. He used the nasal spray --and a year later, he is now showing severe deficiency. That being said, we have done a lot of biomed with him. (not chelation as of yet) With a young child - failure to gain appropriate weight or grow - is a 'failure to thrive' issue, Jimmy had it, it was suggested that Maddie had it...that is why Sam gets it. Despite this, all of my kids made the milestones at the appropriate time or before. Jimmy only started slipping after 18 months. It could be a b12 deficiency - in the book - " Could it be B12, by Sally Palochok, RN, she goes into other tests to confirm a B12 deficiency - and also give the course of action. (she also explains mutations, etc.) Rob's DAN only tested the blood serum, I think she does additional tests now. I think sometimes it's a matter of understanding the tests and what to order. Another good book (to check out) is " Special Needs Kids Eat Right, by Judy Converse " - she goes into caloric needs, fat needs, etc. When I understood it, I was able to track it, and Jimmy (who was very skinny) started to look healthier in terms of weight. He's been on a hunger strike lately, but gets nutrition and fats thru his juicer drink and what little he is eating. (He hasn't been feeling well) - I tend to cut out all the sugars, and serve very nutrient dense foods. (Foods that have a lot of nutrition yet, per serving size, pack a punch in the calorie dept.) I also tend to let him 'graze' (eat small meals during the day). I hope this helps laura > > > > > > Hi ! > > > I'm juicing for my 10 months baby and he loved it!! Guest guest
Hi. Not a problem. Two books - The Ultimate Healing System, LePore, and Fat Flush by Ann Louise Gittleman, say the same thing. 1/2 tsp of clorox (just reg clorox, no smells or anything) to 1 gallon of water. Put in the vegetables/fruit for atleast 20-30 min. Ann Louise Gittleman suggested this is what military families do when overseas to deal with water that might have 'bugs' in it. laura > > > > > > > > Hi ! > > > > I'm juicing for my 10 months baby and he loved it!! Guest guest
I am not a doctor, but his TSH is high and out of range. Next set of labs, you will need to ask for the FREE T3 and antibodies to be checked as well. Do you have a DAN doctor who will listen? A regular doctor will not treat this and say it is fine, I am going through the very same thing now with myself and had to find a naturopath for me. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi ! > > > > > > > I'm juicing for my 10 months baby and he loved it!! Guest guest
Ayse, you may want to try a 'patch' test. I used 2% iodine tinture and made a patch on my arm about 2 " X 2 " - and it was 'gone' within 3 hours for myself. (they have instructions on the web, just google it.) I did feel better that day. Also, I had done it with Rob, and found that his 'thyroid' fluctuated during that time I was testing. Once I stopped, the fluctuations stopped. He is on Synthyroid. laura > > > > > > > > > > Hi ! > > > > > I'm juicing for my 10 months baby and he loved it!! I'm so glad that > > I > > > > bought a > > > > > juicer! Even my husband drinks it! Guest guest
, Synthroid is not very good. You may want to try and get him changed to Natural Thyroid. Just about everyone who has used both (i havent) says that its like night and day. They felt like crap on Synthroid, felt good, started to heal on Natural. (And if i already told you this please disregard this post cause i am having trouble remembering if i already said it or to who!) Cheryl > > Ayse, > > you may want to try a 'patch' test. I used 2% iodine tinture and made a patch on my arm about 2 " X 2 " - and it was 'gone' within 3 hours for myself. (they have instructions on the web, just google it.) > > I did feel better that day. Also, I had done it with Rob, and found that his 'thyroid' fluctuated during that time I was testing. Once I stopped, the fluctuations stopped. He is on Synthyroid. > > laura
Guest guest
This is yet another instance that a non doctor(or ) knows more than the doctor. Most doctors have no clue about the thyroid or the tests. What they say is fine or just slightly off throws everything wayyy off. Just a little Off in a child can cause major disfunction in most areas of the body. And a lifetime of off destroys the body, slow but steady. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ Cheryl > > > I am not a doctor, but his TSH is high and out of range. Next set of labs, you will need to ask for the FREE T3 and antibodies to be checked as well. Do you have a DAN doctor who will listen? A regular doctor will not treat this and say it is fine, I am going through the very same thing now with myself and had to find a naturopath for me. >
Guest guest
In all fairness...(as I like to be sometimes Most medical doctors can't know it all. Medical school doesn't necessarily teach it, and a lot of times it's like finding a needle in a haystack. I think I had read in Bock's book - you have to become the 'medical detective.' for cases like ours. Recently when I had asked a woman, " whose your Doctor? " and she said " I am. " I was taken aback by this statement at first, but then I really saw the truth in it. It's difficult to 'treat' a child when you see them for a period of less than 10 min. You (the parent) become the eyes and ears for the doctor -- becoming the person who collects all the evidence -- and with the right set of circumstances, actually help create the protocol which will help your child. I also have been told " you should just wait and see what the doctor says. " -- I laugh, WAIT? Hell, if I had waited, I would still be wondering what was going on with Jimmy much less have him talking (and joking!) with me. I love the education I have received from this board. It has convinced me that -- I do know what is best, and when I read something, or feel compelled to try something, I bring it to my DAN! and when we have an appointment, discuss it. (Usually if it involves something that I cannot do myself, like write a prescription.) Jimmy's speech sessions were much more productive after I had read three books on the subject. I was able to imitate the lessons at home, and report with accuracy and intelligence on the matter. I think that many people 'wait' for someone to 'rescue' their child, and truly, you are the only person that truly cares about them and their development. (that may not be a fair statement...) READ, READ READ....knowledge is power. laura > > > > > > I am not a doctor, but his TSH is high and out of range. Guest guest
A doctor prescribes Armour: http://www.armourthyroid.com/ A natural porcine thyroid which is basically a less concentrated Armour(meaning you take more of it to equal the armour tho some say Armour is much better): http://www.nutri-meds.com/Nutri_Meds_Desiccated_Porcine_Thyroid_Tablets_p/nm-g-p\ tt.htm There are several other brands that are almost the same thing as the Nutri-Meds but they tend to put other ingredients in with it i dont like. I personally wouldnt put a child on replacement thyroid hormones unless the Labs were done correctly (incorrect testing is a very widespread problem) and read correctly (most docs do not have a clue). Lugols Iodine included in a comprehensive nutritional program (vitamin, mineral supplements) and good food will help the thyroid to work and not become dependent on replacement. Tyrosine also helps without dependency. In adults the damage is usually years long and the thyroid damage is more severe. Some having almost no function or been cut out by a doc, so the hormone is necessary to heal or survive. Even a slightly damaged thyroid effects the body, if a doc says the labs are a bit off but not to worry, dont listen. A little off throws the body a lot off.
