Guest guest
Thank you for your kind words, Katcha. Now on to the races. There is food that I do not consider to be good for me (or anyone), such as most types of chips, yes, sodas, and foods that are filled with additives, highly processed, etc. In other words, they are not particularly nutitious and can be dangerous to the human health. Those are, in my mind, 'bad' foods. "Good" foods are those that are nutritious and healthful. As much as I've read about 'good' vs. 'bad' foods, I fail to see that highly processed foods are neutral (neither good or bad). They're not good. They're bad. If I choose to eat highly processed and fried foods with lots of chemical additives and monosaturated fat, etc., that is my choice, but I certainly don't look at the item as anything in the 'good' category. Apples (which I don't much like) are 'good,' but I don't like them. Oranges are good, and I like oranges. Dorito chips are not good and fortunately for me, I've stopped eating them because after years of eating that junk I've decided I don't like or want dorito chips and other types of chips right now. I had to reply that MY reaction to the 'real food' phrase was a (grab the garlic necklace - ha ha) diety one. IE encouraged me to learn that food is food. Categorizing food either good/bad/real/junk etc. misguided me more than it ever helped me. The more I get my head (thinking, judging) out of my eating (craves, satisfaction, mindfulness, fullness), the better I 'got' IE for myself.I was never a huge fan of diet sodas to begin with. And while Splenda is 'calorie free' I found that it DOES cause my body to react as if I had eaten sugar - the roller coaster of blood sugar highs and lows had me rocking and distracted from food that better suited and worked for my body. Diet sodas were too 'tricky' for me, which like water, often an attempt to create a sensation of 'fullness' but never really lasts or works to satisfy the drive to eat.KatchaIEing since March 2007>> Oh yes, I try to eat "real food," just too much of it. Along with my diet soda. For all my determination to eat "real food," I still drink diet soda (not from dieting mentality since I actually like it better than regular). I drink it when I want something but am not hungry. > > Rain>
