Mia,

oh no, that really sucks! Well, at least you're recognizing it as an

infection and getting it treated, though it's the last thing you need...

here's hoping it goes away quickly :)

I am really interested in participating. I have been working on a story with a

KO character for a while, this would push me to finish it.

If I can be of help in other ways, let me know. I think this sounds like a great

project!

Holly, you read my mind again about a website or blog of some kind. It might

drum up some interest too. Never know, we might find people willing to

help.

I think it's cool that we all keep being on generally the same wave length!

I agree with the editorial board whole heartedly. If we have folks who

would like to read & edit & help decide, that's great. But yes, if someone

wants to submit, they obviously would have to allow the others to decide.

If you want help with the blog let me know. I've got a wordpress blog, I do

like it. I know a bit of HTML too and was formerly a graphic design art

major, so I can help with graphics or anything too. That's my specialty ;-)

And no, I don't do " myspace " looking graphics, I'd be down for some nice,

professional looking stuff over glittery junk hehe.

Anyway! Holly, if you'd like to do the honors of setting up a yahoo group,

that'd be great. If you want me to set up the blog or something, I can, or

if you want to... whatever works for you. As with the submission email, I

could make sure to get the blog info to admins as well. That way a couple

of people could post and keep it going. Might make it easier, you know?

My doc was off today, so they had me see another doctor there. He said it

is a little infected, but it's superficial so he doesn't want to put me on

antibiotics. Basically, he just wants me to keep doing what I have been -

cleaning it and putting neosporin on it lol. The only other thing he wants

me to do is put heat on it to draw out whatever might be left. He said he

doesn't think it will spread so that was a big relief. As long as the

incision site stays good, I'm good!

Awesome & WTH! I think it's great you two want to participate too.

Once we get the yahoo group up, (I think Holly will do it), we can send out

invites here and anyone who's interested in participating in any way would

be welcome to join!

Mia, if you could set up the blog/website, that would be amazing! I have a

blog too, but I'm not very good at more complicated designing. And anytime

there's something you can't figure out, I can probably get my husband to do

it, lol. I've got the Yahoo group roughly set up now, but will start sending

out invites when I get home from work (I really should finish up with these

books here...)

And I agree--if a few admins share the task (so far it's you and me) that

will make putting it all together, posting on the blog, etc, so much easier!

Also, so everyone knows, I have a Gmail account set up specially for this

project--t'will be the " official' email for the whole project. Once we've

got the framework set up and legal documents prepared, it will be the email

we'll use for officially submitting our works, etc.

It's kobookproject@...

I'm really excited (and all of sudden really nervous) about this book

project! The flea-fear of letting people down is starting to get to me...but

I'll work through it :)

I hear ya on the flea-fear Holly. I also think we should take our time too

because all of us have lives and other responsibilities. Plus if we do take

time, do our research properly, we will have a better chance at getting it

published. At least that's my line of thinking.

I will set up the blog either later tonight or tomorrow! I'm kinda excited

about it lol. I am most familiar with wordpress, but I have not made custom

graphics or anything for any of my blogs. I'm sure I can figure it out

though, shouldn't be too bad. I had checked out a bunch of free blog sites

& wordpress impressed me most.

So if anyone has any suggestions for other free blog sites, let me know.

Also, a name would be good... any ideas there? I'll see if I can think of

anything too.

I tell ya what, I'll set it up tomorrow so I can wait for other peoples'

suggestions & that'll give me time to think about what we could call the

blog. I will also have to get onto the yahoo group you set up Holly. I'll

get that done tonight after dinner. Fiance & I have been trying to check

out this middle eastern restaurant forever but they have weird hours, and

fiance usually works afternoons so we can never go. Since he's off now to

help take care of my gimpy butt, we're going to go tonight & HOPE they are

open haha. But yeah, after dinner I will get on the new yahoo group & do

some more thinking about the blog.

Please send suggestions folks =) Like I said, I'll be thinking about it too

and will set up the blog tomorrow =D

Sounds great; appreciate you and others spearheading the project idea. What an

awesome way to take all of this and create some meaning/purpose out of the pain!

p.s. Thank God for geeky husbands. :-)

Hey Mia,

I hope it's not too serious of a complication. Let us know?

I just got my kneecap dislocated yesterday. Genetic condition in knees

aggravated by skiing injuries and physical job - had a TTT surgery last year on

the right knee. (Breaking the bone and screwing it back together in better

alignment.) Now we're looking at doing the left!

The pain is SOOOO horrible and ongoing with this condition. Worst part is poor

little 2 year-old son did it climbing onto my lap. He fell and knocked the knee

out of place. I reacted by pushing him off and he hit his head while I was

yelling trying to push it back in place forcibly.

One good thing about being a KO: we are able to endure lots of abuse. :-(

I agree with Doug that we may be putting the cart before the horse by thinking

about publication, proceeds, etc. right now. As one who's seen a number of

books struggling toward publication (most of which aren't there yet after

several years), putting together a book is a LOT of work.

It will be made faster by the fact that there are a number of contributors all

working at once, instead of one intrepid soul starting at the beginning and

slogging all the way through to the end, but it will still be a LOT of work.

And once that's done, there is the oh-so-fun process, should we decide to try to

get it commercially published, of sending queries to agents. *headdesk*

I have copy edited my husband's last novel as well as two nonfiction collections

of ghost stories and legends by Pamela K. Kinney. I also have worked on query

letters for other people that got bites from agents, so maybe I can help out in

these areas.
