Jane, Thank you for your reply. I think you really hit on something here: Many of us can relate to a feeling of empowerment while on a diet and actually losing.I think eating is often about control for me -- and being on a really restrictive eating plan or diet that I stick to perfectly gives me a sense of control. I have figured out though that it's really a dead-end to allow that control to take the place of addressing issues in my life over which I do NOT have control. It sounds like you've had to use your diet repeatedly though, and would prefer to eat normally in a way which sustains a healthy weight.Yes, that is actually one of the worst/best things about this particular diet. It works so well and so fast that I've kept it in my back pocket as a fix-all, instead of figuring out why in the heck I eat the way I do sometimes. However, I decided yesterday after finding this group, and a couple of other prompts this week that I really did not want to continue this crazy restrictive diet. I experimented last evening with being hungry and thinking about what would really satisfy. When I figured out I wanted oatmeal, I made it and ate it, and it was a COMPLETELY different experience to do that. It was so satisfying, and I really savored it. Gave me hope that I really can eat intuitively.
