How sweet to NOT be drawn in by the siren call of 'quick weight loss' :-) Sounds

to me like you have diet mentality on the ropes! Bravo for you.

Yes, there were folks on there who've lost, but I now understand that the

statistics are that 95% of people who loose weight on diets gain it back and

more.

I didn't watch Dr. Phil, but last night a friend was talking about a new nutrition plan and I googled it and read some and..... I'm so gullible. I'll believe anything. Today I'm almost back to thinking there's nothing I can eat. You know, whatever we do, there will be someone who swears the direct opposite is the only way. So I give up. Back to IE because no one's telling me what to do, and no one else is arguing that that's way wrong. I know that feeling. for me, I find it very disconcerting and disheartening when the ‘medical’ community endorses some new diet on the market. Having worked in the film/TV industry myself, I know Dr. Phil was most likely given a big ‘incentive’ to promote the diet. Believe it or not, the same is true of the nutritional or medical segments on our local news. It’s actually a form of ‘paid advertising’. There is normally a pharma company, product, or organization that pays to have the segment promote whatever it is. Even the ‘man on the street’ is not a man, but normally, a paid actor. Furthermore, I find I am attempting to stay away from TV, news, magazines. I am too early in my IE journey…and stuff like that will, for an instance, give me that ‘delusional’ thinking of ‘hey, it worked for them! May THIS TIME it will work’. seeing magazines with photos of skinny clad actresses and models makes me feel ‘why can’t I look that again?”. but, I know the weight gain has come from messing up my internal system. My body does not trust me and I don’t trust my body. But, now I am willing to be in a space to have non-judgment and go through this process of discovering what my body is needing. For example, the past two weeks I have been eating a ‘restricted’ serving of sugar free ice-cream and whip cream EVERY DAY. At first, I was beating myself up, then I came to that space of neutrality and non-judgment. Now, it turned into a dialogue of ‘hmm, what is it in ice cream that my body is telling me it needs? What am I missing from my diet?”. I realised, this time last year I had critically low levels of Vitamin D that were causing lethargy, muscle weakness and depression (on top of the sluggish thyroid). So, I realised that milk has a good serving of Vitamin D. for me, I do not do well with dairy, but I DO fare quite well with Raw Dairy. I bought my raw milk yesterday. This morning I had an organic hot mocha with the raw milk …..it was nice. Thank you for this forum. It’s going to be a great help for me. I am so glad I found others here. Lulu

Very interesting insight Lulu! I formed a mental image that showed me the 'diet

industry' in a nutshell - me on a leash held by a FAT 'cat' business type with

his minion - a doctor - standing next to him wagging his finger ' shame shame'

at me! For sure the 'diet industry' is a multi-BILLION dollar a year business.

Advertising is a heavy tool used by this to push their products and services

upon us - mainly utilizing 'peer pressure' tactics. Where do we fit in this

endeavor?!? AS SHEEP to be fleeced! No matter how much those participating in

this ruse show that they 'care' - if they really really really did - they would

use OUR needs as directives, not THEIR$. Free at last! is our objective ;-)

Congrats for discovering your Vit. D/dairy connections that work for YOU! What a

great step on your IE journey - thanks for sharing and inspiring too.

Lulu,Hooray for you, for figuring out that you need to stay away from media images and stories, especially of dramatic weight loss! That was very true for me earlier in my IE journey... and now that I am away from them, I don't want them anymore! A lot like some of my other IE experiences!

I think those stories of dramatic weight loss give me a sense of excitement like starting a new diet. Dangerous! Because it always led to disappointment. Now I miss the excitement being much more even keel... it's worth it!

Also, I LOVE raw milk! I felt SOOOOO great when I was drinking it every day! Unfortunately it's very difficult to get it now for me... I miss it. I drink whole fat organic grass fed dairy. pasteurized on low temps, and never ultrapasteurized, so it still has at least some of those good live properties, I hope... ultrapasteurized leads to a stomach ache and symptoms of lactose intolerance every time!

I wondered why there were so many medical pieces posing on news these days! I

just hate that - it's so deceptive. Argh.

Yes and, " My body does not

> trust me and I don't trust my body. " that's what i'm struggling with too - no

trust anywhere from having trusted outside sources for too many years.

thanks for the informative post. Sandarah

  • 2 weeks later...

I sure wish I could get raw milk! I also drink whole, pasteurized milk from grass-fed cows, but I can't find anything that is not homogenized, even from my local dairy. There is nothing like a glass of steamed whole milk before bed!

Oh yes, let all the gym membership drives, new diet "solutions," magazine articles, and healthy eating gurus come out! It's January. Time to atone for the "sin" of eating during the holidays. Let's all brace ourselves. LOL.

It seems that the government has declared 'raw' milk a hazard to public health

and illegal to sell, cracking down on little micro farms that have. What a

crock, but such are the times we live in. I would suggest that one find a little

one man dairy operation but odds are those are long gone these days (unless you

live near Amish?). My uncle was a dairyman in the 50s - early 70s and I remember

gaining 5 or 10 pounds the week I visited his farm when I was a teen. Talk about

full fat eating - wow did my cousins do that! But I also remember having raw

milk, right from the cooling tank which was lovely to say the least. Didn't seem

to endanger my health one bit, other than adding to my developing curves :-)

LOL.

Unfortunately it's very difficult to get it now for me... I miss it. I drink

whole fat organic grass fed dairy. pasteurized on low temps, and never

ultrapasteurized, so it still has at least some of those good live properties, I

hope... ultrapasteurized leads to a stomach ache and symptoms of lactose

intolerance every time!

LOL.

anymore! A lot like some of my other IE experiences!
