Guest guest
Hi Tonya, Congratulations on being down to your last quarter! You have worked SO hard. Are you still planning on working for the Nephrologist? You really are an inspiration to many to juggle work, school and your family all while coping with IgAN. Guest guest
Hey Anita, Good to hear from you. Enjoy your time with your sister!!! Hope you guys have a great time. Jon I just wanted everyone to know I am still around. Maintaining at the moment, but that is better than gaining what I would normally gain especially since I have been eating like a pig. I've been working a lot of overtime and haven't had a chance to respond to much and my sister is here from Alaska for about a week so I won't be on line much. All of you who are losing keep up the good work. Those of you who are maintaining/gaining hang in there. , I hope your daughter is doing ok after her having the tubes put in her ears. Shell hang in there. You have to do whats right for you. I know I've missed people and I'm sorry.Jon way to go on the excercise. Keep up the good work. Guest guest
Hi. My name is Angel and I am the mother to Cade. I am new to this whole kidney disease thing....and very scared for my son. The nephrologist says he suspects IgA and that this would be the best case scenerio for my son. He has large amounts of blood, protein and " casts " in his blood. I do not know what the 'casts' is or mean. This all started a week ago. He is now anemic also. When you guys found out you had kidney problems (before biopsy) how long did you have to wait for the biopsy? This is my deal: I am in a custody battle for my sons against my parents. We went to court a few weeks ago and are waiting for the judge to rule on the case. My parents are nuts and the judge knows this. NOW my son has kidney problems and my mother is saying that she wants to wait two weeks to do the biopsy so that my sons uninterested father can be there. I want the biopsy done asap. Can he go into kidney failure this quick? His urine looks like coca cola. I'm going to try to get in touch with his dr. now.... Thanks, Angel

Guest guest
Hi Angel. Welcome to the group. I waited 16 years for a biopsy, but of course, I wasn't a child. But having a biopsy done for suspected IgAN or any other kidney disease is not usually something that has to be done right away. In fact, sometimes, if the overall symptoms aren't too bad (ie. no heavy proteinuria), they can wait quite some time before deciding the small risk from a biopsy is worth the trouble. The cola-coloured urine is not as ominous as it looks. It just takes a very small of blood leaking into it to cause that colour. This is something that comes and goes, and it's not really that serious on its own. Proteinuria is more of a concern, it it's heavy as it sometimes can be. I doubt that he would go into kidney failure while waiting for a biopsy. IgAN usually isn't like that. You should be able to find the meaning of " casts " and most other things about IgAN on my website, www.igan.ca . There's a search box on the first page - just scroll down a bit, and click " search www.igan.ca " . Pierre Re: Hello > Hi. My name is Angel and I am the mother to Cade. Guest guest
Hi Angel and welcome to the group. I am sorry your son Cade seems to have IgAN, but as you have learned from his doctor, in the majority of cases IgAN is a fairly benign condition that never progresses to end stage. There will be no harm in waiting a couple of weeks for a biopsy. I am terribly sorry that you are having to endure a custody battle on top of his IgAN. I wish you all the best in this ordeal, and we look forward to getting to know you. In a message dated 7/3/2004 8:45:02 AM Eastern Daylight Time, saturn70006@... writes: >Hi. Guest guest
Hi , It is very inspirational and very encouraging to hear that you are holding steady between 4 and 5 for three years. That gives me hope that I can hold steady until my daughter get out of college :-) Also, good for you for getting on that treadmill every day! If you can do 7 days, then I can do more than 3-4 days a week! Thanks for posting. > Hi > > > >I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago with IGA. at that time my creatine was > >between 4.0 and 5.0. now 3 yrs later it is the same.
