Guest guest
That's awesome Lynette =) I'm glad that opportunity was there for you and that you listened to that little voice screaming " help me! " And look how far you have come because of it =) Rock on lady! You are right, we can do this. I am on the same path myself and know very much about the " 2 steps forward, one back " . It takes time, but healing can occur... it has for me. I still have more work to do, but it's so worth it. Thanks for such an inspirational post! Guest guest
One of the hardest, scariest parts of listening to MY " Help Me " is that I (as I sure all victims of abuse can attest to) stopped listening to the " Help Me " because it was too painful to acknowledge that there was any pain. So I just turned it off. Then, after decades of this, anytime " Help Me " would break through a tiny crack in my veneer (and it does crack... and if not addressed, KO's - I believe - go insane) I felt UNWORTHY to listen to it. So, again, I shut it down... but with a tiny bit of anger... and scared to death of where that would come... because I was a bad girl, unworthy of my OWN feelings on ANYTHING. But, alas, I heard the scream of desperation and panic this time. I knew that this would me by final time... then I would fade away. And I have a family to " Get Well " for. So I took the help.... and I'm here. Alive, well, self-aware. Dare I say, " Happy. Guest guest
Gosh Lynnette, I so can attest to how you stopped listening to the " help me " , how you felt you were unworthy of your very own thoughts & feelings, of your own happiness. I would bet so many of us here can! I'm so glad you listened. I think all of us have, otherwise we wouldn't be here on this list. We just have to remind ourselves to keep listening. I know I do anyway... especially with the fleas I've had lately. The more I think about it, the more passionate I become about wanting more psychologists, psychiatrists & therapists to do more research & awareness of how BPD effects the so called " loved " ones.... the family members who have to live with them. More needs to be done in all aspects of BPD IMO... but few brave souls (like Randi) are actually discussing how it effects the nons in their lives. Guest guest
I think there will always be nay-sayers, and thus limited research/support/etc, because - as we are all aware - BPD's are GREAT in public... and KO's are always told, " Well, you can just leave.
