Guest guest
Yes, they do. So many creative people in one place... I wish we could combine our poems, short stories & art into a book. I have no idea how to go about doing that, or even if anyone would be interested, but it's something that I keep thinking when I read all these awesome poems. Maybe the proceeded could go to a non-profit who raises awareness about abuse. *shrug* Ok I'll shut up now lol Mia On Sun, Jan 16, 2011 at 1:01 PM, anuria67854 wrote: > > > Those are lovely. Guest guest
I like that idea, Mia! Especially if all profits go to fund awareness about abuse and about Borderline Personality Disorder. It's surprising how many people haven't heard about BPD until I've talked about it. I wonder how many people would be helped if they knew about BPD? that they're not alone? Holly > > > Yes, they do. Guest guest
That was my thought, Holly, how many people think they're struggling alone out there? Goodness knows I thought I was for the longest time. I would like to keep hearing what people think about this, good idea? bad idea? Questions, concerns, etc. Maybe if we put our heads together we could make it happen. I don't know lol. I hate " dreaming " out loud... I'm always afraid my ideas are stupid. Can you say fleas? LOL Mia
Guest guest
Mia, same thing here--I go between " this is a great idea! " to " this is a stupid idea... " quite a bit about my writing quite a bit. But this one is a great idea, and that makes 2 people who think so! I'll be pondering about ways to go about organizing the effort. I've helped put together collaborative works before into a small book, in one of my classes in undergrad. I think what would help is if we could accept previously published work (acknowledged as such) and for new work, not have an exclusive copyright to it. That is, people can still use their piece for their own works without worrying about legal tangles. Hmmmm.... Guest guest
I like those ideas a lot Holly. I was talking a bit with my fiance about it, he had what I think is a good idea - maybe a forward by a therapist or someone experienced in BPD & it's effects on the kids? (Hey, maybe Randi would do it hehe). I don't know. Still lots of thought to go into this, and of course it depends if other people here are interested. It also has to be something everyone feels safe & comfortable with. I think safety is a concern for me, I think it would be safe to say it might be for all of us as KOs. So how do we keep thinks anonymous, yet get permission from the writer/artist to use what they've created, you know? Just thinking out loud. Guest guest
That would be awesome if Randi could do a foreword, lol! As for anonymity, that could be up to the individuals whether they want to be or not. I'm fine with using my real name for now, for example, but some others probably would prefer anonymity. I asked my husband who's pretty knowledgable about these sorts of things, and he said that we would need to have them sign a non-exclusive permission/license (so they can be free to use what they've written for their own work) with their real name for legal purposes--but we would never disclose their identity, and we could publish it under a pseudonym of their choice. We could specify that only some people, disclosed in the license agreement, would be able to see their real names, and we would contact the writers/artists if we need to disclose their names to another person (like the publisher, etc). I think any editors won't need their names in order to edit, and we could function as a mediator between folks who want that extra layer of security. I'm hoping this would be secure enough for most folks to feel comfortable with contributing. Basically, it's almost like the same security n Assagne (sp?) is using--communicating only through a few mediators, hah. There's probably sample permission/license forms online that I could try to adapt for this purpose, as a starting point. What do you (and everybody else) think? Guest guest
I think that sounds like a really good idea Holly. I think that's what fiance was talking about when I was telling him about it. Maybe we should start another thread & see what others think? I'd love to do something like this. I think it would be therapeutic for me and maybe help others too. And like I said, we'd have to find a good legit non-profit to have the proceeds go to. Going to take some work & research, but if folks are interested - we're a smart bunch. We can probably make it happen. Might take some time, but I think it could. That scares me a little... still that whole idea of " dreaming " and everything lol.
