Guest guest
Dear group, About 10 days ago, a member of our group emailed me asking about the name of the expectorant (cold medicine) used to treat fibromyalgia. After first giving up on the question, I ran into the answer: Guaifenesin. Do a www.google.com search on +Guaifenesin +fibromyalgia, and 1,120 records are found. I have no opinion on Guaifenesin, but my studies to date indicate that magnesium is a valuable food supplement to treat fibromyalgia and other soft tissue arthritis. I will purchase my first magnesium supplements tomorrow and report back if I detect an improvement. Does anyone in our group have experience with magnesium supplements? I am increasingly thinking that my symptoms are those of FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome) or soft tissue arthritis, even though I was diagnosed, or more likely misdiagnosed, with RA. If a rheumatologist cannot be trusted on treatment, can he/she be trusted on diagnosis? On a positive note, I stopped taking Vioxx four days ago, with no negative effect. My only remaining prescription medicine is Minocin. I am also taking lots of food supplements, including salmon oil and vitamins. Sincerely, Harald
Guest guest
I have taken 400 mgs of Magnesium for several years and it definitely helps me with respect to muscle aches in my legs. A few months ago I ran out of magnesium and I decided to see how I was without it. The muscle aches in my legs came back with a vegenance. As for guaifensin, I have also taken this for a few years and I believe that it helps me too. It seems to loosen the mucous I have and my asthma has improved too, although the antibiotics could be helping a lot in that regard. In any case, I will stay on both the guafensein and magnesium as they are helping me Carol E from NY
