I mean the blood work a DAN would run but that a regular pediatrician would poo-poo as being unnecessary. Know what I mean?I mean, I had a hard time getting my ped to run a CBC on my kid, and he had bruised up legs that resembled petechiae, for goodness sake; he only did a physical exam when my son was two and complained of penis pain (should have been referred to a urologist or pee test run)!! BTW I like this ped and I haven't left his care completely... he is a really great guy but just a little laid back, and well, still towing the mainstream line.

Which advance blood work are you referring to Toni....so glad to see you and some other familiar names are still on this board :)

Yes, my Ped to is so laid back to! and says he never took Biology so he doesn't know much about Biomedical Interventions. I always thought Biology was one of the Ped's first curriculums..you would think. What I like about this Ped is that he takes me serious, hears me out and doesn't push vaccines on me anymore, because he understands where I'm coming from. He's very patient with me open minded and still towing the mainstream like your Ped as well. Thxs for your post:)

Well, what you want to do is go to some website like NIH or CDC and print up what the general course of action is to rule out lyme disease.Go into his office with that stuff.Have your list ready to go of what you want tested. When/If he balks, pull out your CDC/NIH stuff. Basically, do his homework for him.

Fingers crossed you'll get some good lab workups. :-)

Lol, this Ped gets a kick out of the huge history binder with all of my 10 questions list I've had for him since my son was born. I'll check out the site you mentioned. Thank you, thank you! I've also been wondering on checking his antibodies, doing a titters test.... Never checked it before?

Irma- You should to join the Pecanbread group,it is for those on SCD,those in the group post lots of recipes, questions etc.We did SCD for a little while I do think it works but it was too much work for me. I do plan to give a shot agin in a couple of months.I have met several parents who had great results on SCD. Melinda

I find the GAPS Diet to be a more updated version of the SCD Diet with a detox introduction diet followed by lots of home made veggies, yogurts, Keifer, dried fruits, animal fats, nuts, homemade meat fish stocks and juicing included. The Diet was introduced by Dr Natasha Cambell McBride, a Russian Neurologist who started a family in the UK to then find out her son was diagnosed with Autism. She then got her Degree in Nutritional Science and helped recover her son. She also pays honorable tribute to the late Ms Gottschal Dr Haas whom shared the healing benefits of the SCD diet. Her theory is to detox the gut, followed my healing it, sealing it and she recommends this diet for two years and then slowly introduce starchy carbs, Dairy, Wheats...etcYou can google her on Utube. My gut feeling (no pun intended) tells me to go this route. She recommends minimal vitamins, and no meds because she says the foods themselves will help heal

and naturally eleminate the toxic pathogens in the gut lining.I'm quite new to this diet but feel I've plateaued with GF/CF diet. Wish I knew someone on this board that can give me some suggestive meal plans and some long term success stories..:)

Hi Irma,My son did the Valtrex/Flucanozole trial and developed pain in his hands and feet. He also had some spasm in his arms. We stopped both medication immediately but the pain in his hands and feet lasted for several months after that. The spasm didn't occur again. It was less and less frequent and intense as time went by.Theses side effects are not listed in the typical side effects of Flucanozole/Diflucan but deep in their website I saw that similar symptoms were recorded during clinical trials. It sounds different from what your son is experiencing but wanted to mention it, just in case.My son improved a lot on Valtrex but we had to stop because of all the serious side-effects he was experiencing. The Valtrex gave him serious gastro-intestinal problems. We have been doing the GAPS diet for a little over 2 weeks now and stopped all supplements and DAN protocol treatments. At first my son regressed but in the last few days he is much better. Not as good as on the Valtrex but I am hoping that he will continue to improve.I highly recommend reading Dr. -McBride's book: The Gut and Psychology Syndrome. From all the book I read (and I read many of them), it's the one I found most convincing. Gen
