Guest guest
Lynnette - me too!!! And your measurements are very close to mine. The only thing is my nada was about 300 pounds. And I was a chubby kid because 1) I didn't know better yet and 2) She ate junk food constantly in huge amounts. But that experience scared me for life. You are gorgeous the way you are. Guest guest
It was SO hard writing that post... all triggered by Nada's poking on the internet for info on SO... and finding the Picassa. I haven't told SO yet... Lynnette - feeling HUGE today (even though my mirror tells me different and my clothes are just hanging.) Sigh............... > > > > > > > All my life I've been told I was fat by Nada. Sometimes I was. Most times I > > wasn't. But it didn't matter. Guest guest
Those are the cruelest things a mother can say to a girl and any woman should understand that. Good god. I am so sorry she threw her crap onto you at such a tender age. I know to me that would have emotionally been the physical equivalent of hitting me over the head with a baseball bat. I am just so sorry. I don't know what else to say. I hope you were able to take a little bit of validation away from what the psychologist said to your nada at least. patinage
Guest guest
Thanks... again it goes back to my therapist's belief that I'm STILL being abused by Nada... and that I fail to recognize the long term and chronic implications and damage for what they are ORCHESTRATED AND HIDIOUS. Tuesday proved that she's still not done with me. Lynnette > > Those are the cruelest things a mother can say to a girl and any woman should understand that. Good god. Guest guest
UUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Lynette, can I smack your nada for a while, please? lol. I'm so sorry you had to endure that kind of crap. I also got some of the same treatment with the remarks & flat out " teasing " me about being fat. The difference... I was for the most part fat. Then when nada finally allowed me to join sports (track) I slimmed down a lot... but the " teasing " by her & step dad continued. I would cry and then they would yell because they were " just teasing " me. They obviously knew it hurt & still did it anyway. Hell, even when I ran track & wore a size 8 pant I thought I was still HUGE. I look back at the few photos I have from that time now, and I think oh wow, I was not fat. What the hell was wrong with me? I can answer that now - nada & step dad's teasing. They really had me believing I was huge. I also hated clothes shoppting with nada. UGH. Or my grandnada. DOUBLE UGH!! I bet you are stunning, Lynette. There is so much pressure on women & young girls these days to look like airbrushed super models in magazines. More UGH! I seriously hate hate hate that. I like that Dove shampoo & body products has the campaign for real beauty... I wish they would do more though. So much wrong with how our society thinks women & girls should look. Real beauty is far from that fakeness. As an aside, I have always adored what I feel are classy pin-up models of like the 50's. I'm not a perv, I swear! But I love that classy look and the women had real bodies and most were not nude, or only very very slightly nude. I wish we could start glamorizing women like that nowadays. Guest guest
I played softball, swam, downhill raced (ski), did gymnastics (til age 12 when I had a huge growth spurt in height) and lifted weights regularly. I was anything but 'big'... but I had a lot of muscle so I was dense and heavier on the charts. It actually proved to be a good thing as I got older. Anyway... I'm just trying to climb off the cliff of self-hatred right now... not that I really HATE my body... I just hate that Nada would like me to. SO, btw, compares me to a hot 40's pin-up girl... Guest guest
Excuse my indelicacy, but what an F ing Bitch! NO man will ever want a FAT chick. ? A real man learns soon enough what an enormous bitch can reside in a tiny little body. A real man learns that nothing he sees in Playboy exists in nature. A real man learns to seek the heart and mind. The body is just dressing. Beauty fades. Bitch is forever. Find a sweet, loving woman if you want contentment. And there are no ugly women. They come in pretty, prettier, and prettiest. They are at once God s crowning creation, and His little joke on us. That is to say, on the outside, there are no ugly women. But on the inside, in the soul, as we can see from your Nada, there are some really prime bitches. So sorry you have this to bear. And who the HELL but a nada would tell you your only purpose in life it to get a man. Don t get me wrong. I believe in Vive la Difference. But her implication is that if some man does not love you for your looks, you are of no account. What an ugly horrid thing to do. She s wrong you know?
Guest guest
Lynnette, I'm sorry your nada is so mean. I understand. My nada gave me plenty of insecurities as well. The fact of the matter is, it really doesn't matter whether you were fat or skinny or whatever, no mother should call her daughter fat and tell her she couldn't get a man, etc!! That's horrible. My nada didn't call me fat until I got older and bigger than her. She's 5'4 " and usually weights around 120, I'm 5'9 " and have weighed more than her since I was 16. She's been telling me I'm fat since then. But even before that, she was like your nada telling me no man would love me, it was just for other reasons than me being fat, like that I was selfish, bratty, mentally ill, too nerdy, too stupid, etc. It's so cruel how they destroy our self esteem like that. As kids we can't help but believe what our own mothers tell us as truth!! (I still have doubts that I'm lovable at all, despite the fact that I have a man who loves me!) My nada also thinks she is fat herself. (if she is fat, I am morbidly obese.) I think them calling us fat or other names is just another projection of their OWN securities onto us. My nada has told me before that my dad would leave her if she got fat. This despite the fact that she has physically abused him, threatened his life, and verbally/emotionally abused his children, and he still refuses to leave her. I think a little weight would certainly not be the last straw. Casey > > > > All my life I've been told I was fat by Nada. Sometimes I was. Most > times I wasn't. But it didn't matter. Guest guest
I hear you, Lynette! mine was the same. She got to the point that one day, I was about 13, I think, she shouted " How can I love you when I look at you and see how fat you are? I just can't love you like that " (I swear, I was chubby, but nothing out of the ordinary). It still hurts me after so many years. She has been relentless about critizing my weight. Every achievements, little or big I reached in life, was always poisoned by the inevitable " Good, but are you going to do somenthing about your weight now? " . Even at my own graduation party, (where i was at my lowest weight, and -let's just say it, 24-year-old and cute) she came with her usual smirk on her face, trying to lower my fork with her hand, and, in front of the whole dinner party, saying: " isn't it enough, dear? Shouldn't you stop eating now? " And it got worse when I found my boyfriend-future-husband. The hurtful, evil comments about the weight escalated. One day she really lost it and shouted in my face: " How can DH look at you and f*** you! " Ahhh nada. I think of her as a tiny pot of pure black poison. > > All my life I've been told I was fat by Nada. Sometimes I was. Most times I wasn't. But it didn't matter. I was always F.A.T.
