Guest guest
Last week I contacted a local writer's group, they are through with their meetings until after the first of the year but they are having a Christmas party that I was invited to attend. The party is mid-day, mid-week and I automatically thought, " oh, I can't do that " . But I'm going to do it. It's silly to even pretend that I can't go. It's important - and I totally want to start writing. I just opened up my master's thesis, broke it into chapters, double spaced it and will start re-working it to turn it into a book. I finished my MA 9 years ago and it will take some time to re-gear it, but I have a lot more grist for the mill now that I've worked in teh field as long as I have. I've written since the 8th grade but never published anything. My thesis was on the history of madness in western thought comparing the medical model to various esoteric and spiritual world views. I wanted to know what was crazy and why why we treat people who are different the way we do. I've worked in the in-patient psychiatric world and in emergency psychiatric services for 18 years and I think that stepping up and writing this will probably do more for my appetite than just about anything. Yay. (Little yay? Big yay? I think I just made a commitment.)
