Hard to believe that this group has been silent today. Have to wonder if the

looming New Year hasn't triggered some Diet Mentality - hmmm? Hopefully it just

the opposite - everyone is happily enjoying family, some time off and looking

forward to the upcoming year with good thoughts about having IE in our lives.

No, I just figured I had already posted too much over the past several days, and

that I ought to be doing something else with my time, and then it would be a

nice surprise to read all the posts that had been made in my absence.

Also, I have been thinking A LOT about the post (and I am really really sorry

that I don't remember whose, and can,t find it again now) about living one's

life--having someone telling her that he (or she) had to fight with himself

every single day ov food in order to stay skinny, and tht all skinny people have

to do that, and what an absolute waste of a life that would be. That idea

really scared me, because that's us not the way I want to spend my life, and I'm

wondering how much time and energy and well-being I have already sacrificed to

thinking about food. Too much! I'm sure. What kinds of memories do we want to

have when our lives are almost over (whenever that may be--it could be in thirty

years, it could be tomorrow)? What do we want top he texture of our days to be

like? What do we care about? How have we affected other people's lives? What

difference have we made in the world?

So no, not diet mentality, but taking stock.

Thanks for asking.

I've been away for 2 days, first with a friend and then baby sitting my grandson today.  I have noticed how many things are geared towards diet mentality for starting the new year with a loose weight resolution. I have noticed in myself a diet mentality of " forbidden "   foods that I ate plenty of over the Holidays, candy, cake, etc.  But my concern and focus needs to return not to my weight but to honoring my liver.  Sugar, fats, etc. are not good for my fatty liver. I noticed that I am falling back into the diet mentality of thinking that I will start being " good " on the first and really stick with it until mid Feb.  when I have my next lab work.  That never worked when I was on a diet either.  I have made myself feel miserable though, overfull, reflux, unable to sleep, etc.  Happy New Year to everyone. Well, I was backpacking all day yesterday and babysitting grandkids all day today, so I haven't been online. No New Year's diet mentality looming..... numbers drive me crazy and I'm happy to quit messing with them. Ellie To: IntuitiveEating_Support Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2011 5:40 PM Subject: Hello?

Oh Wow! That's right!! No Resolutions regarding dieting! No cleaning out the fridge and cupboards tomorrow and no trying to eat up everything in sight because the restriction and hunger start on Sunday. I actually saw a commercial saying January 2nd is National Weigh-in Day and I laughed so hard. Not because it was funny but I laughed with joy of being free from that yearly heartache. Instead I'm clearing all the clothes that don't fit from my closet and by Sunday there will only be clothes that fit well and make me happy, regardless of what size they are. This year its going to be about getting organized and surrounding myself only eith things that make me feel wonderful. Theres no room there for diet mentality. Happy New Year!SunnySent from my iPod
