Guest guest
I'm with Doug - I'd play the press card. Personally (because I am one), I would contact the public information officer for the University. I'd fill her in on the situation and tell her that I could imagine some very negative press resulting. Then I'd let her present the info to the Pres of the College in terms of his reputation, what the board of regents will think, how everybody is going to look and sound and how it could become a press field day just like Arizona on national, even international terms. I'd also take every single careful step with the police, document every single thing, and very sweetly let the U president know it was his ass if he ignored a threat. > > > I second Doug's call the police and call the press advice. Guest guest
I passed on some of the advice last night, and FIL said he wants to see what administration does first--but DH and I, and no doubt MIL, will be encouraging him to use all these ideas--thank you! Also, I will pass along the information about Chabad House, too--didn't think of that. Here's hoping that the threatening student won't do anything... Guest guest
So, after I passed along the rest of the comments earlier today, I got an email back from MIL: " Thanks to you and all these people for the comments. [FIL] met with [boss] and [another boss] this morning. There is going to be a ban and bar instituted. Was instituted at 1pm...he was taken from campus by ambulance whatever that means. Will keep you posted. Many are taking this seriously...some were not including security over there apparently. " So I guess at least some of the administration took the threatening nature of the student seriously, even when the others had their heads in the sand. Thanks be to God. And thanks to everybody for your prayers and helpful suggestions! Hopefully he'll stay far away from the university now, with the ban and bar. And hopefully nobody will let him sneak back in under another name or whatnot. Guest guest
Listen to Dough. I'm investigative jornalist and he is right about eveything. Sent via BlackBerry from Vodafone Re: Disturbed student threatening FIL--advice pls Call the police. There is not a law enforcement agency in the country right now that wants to be standing in front of cameras with their, scuse me for having the thougtht, you fill it in, in their hands, saying, well , we knew he was Knuckin Futs but we just didnt do shit till he shot up our local college. A month ago, they may NOT have taken it seriously. Tomorrow morning, every one of them is going to see himself looking like that Idiot Sheriff in Arizona. And they are going to be thinking about the multi million dollar lawsuits that Sheriff s dept is about to get slapped with. Oh, yea, they ll take it seriously. I can t belive, in view of the U of Va shootings just last year, and so many other school shooting incidents, that they would blow it off. Better yet, take it to some hotshot reporter for the local TV station. The University President will just LOVE walking away from cameras saying No Comment and seeing it on the evening news. And wonder how that looks to the alumni and his donors. Bottom line with college admins, they are thinking about absolutely nothing but money. ly, they don t give a good god dam if people get shot, as long as the money flows in to keep their jobs open. Sorry if that sounds cynical. But I belive it. Threaten their money and now they are serious. Go to the cops and say we are afraid we have a University of Virginia situation brewing, and the admin won t do anything. We hope you can and will. Thanks for your time, we are on our way to the TV station to talk to their investigative reporter about it. Screw them. Do not be nice and wait for them to get worried. Fight mean. Bite. Kick gonads. Doug Ps, btw, if he came back to campus with an agreement not to visit FIL s dept, and violated that, Admin should have taken a restraining order the very next day. The fact that admin saw fit to extract such an agreement from him should in itself be sufficient for a restraining order. So...if admin isn't going to take this student's threatening behavior seriously, or FIL's safety seriously, what can FIL do? I don't know if a restraining order would work, since there wasn't an actual direct " I'm going to kill you " threat. Or if FIL should ask for police help in investigating, or what he could do. Lawyer it up to force administration to take it seriously? I honestly don't know. My MIL has been swearing up a storm apparently, and called to tell DH all about it, and she is really scared for FIL. > > So, if you guys have any advice on potential legal or security things FIL can do, that would be amazing. > > At the very least, prayers would be wonderful, too. > Holly >
