Guest guest
Your ferritin is horrific. I let Val say for sure if you should transition back to NDT but with a ferritin that I would bet you'll make a nice amount of RT3 again when adding T4 into the mix. This is fabulous news, I think: On November 12 2009 I found out I have an RT3 issue. I had been taking 100 mcg. levoxyl plus 5 mcg. cytomel. I stopped taking levoxyl and slowly increased cytomel from 5 mcg and now am up to 40 mcg. (I'm also taking cortef. (I started on Fludrocortisone and potassium about a week and a half ago, so will retest electolytes next week) These are my labs for 11/04/09 WBC: 3.4 (4.0-10.5) RBC: 3.87 (3.8-5.1) glucose: 78 (65-99) creatinine:.81 (.57-1.0) Bun: 13 (5-26) sodium: 139 potassium: 3.8 AST: 18 ALT: 15 phosphorus: 3.4 (2.5-4.5) Iron binding cap. 276 UIBC: 181 ANA negative (I've had thyroid cancer, and my ANA has been elevated until now) estradiol: 22 TSH: 5.4 (.45-4.5) LDH: 140 (100-250) T3: 68 (83-200) magnesium: 2.0 (1.6-2.6) RT3: 429 (90-350) cortisol, 9 a.m.: 10.7 ACTH,plasma: 11 platelets; 165 New labs: 12/24/09, fasting as well WBC: 5.1 Hurray! RBC: 3.76 (3.8-5.1) RDW: 15.4 (11.7-15.0) Dunno what this means platelets: 144 (140-415) Dunno why this went down glucose: 86 (hurray, an improvement) bun: 11 creatinine: .64 (.57-1.0) better than Nov. labs ANA negative, hurray T4 free, direct: .07 (.82-1.77) DHEA-S: 6.6 DHEA-S in Sept '09: 27 T4: 0.6 (4.5-12.0) seems to correspond with the free t4 T3: 108 (83-200) T3, free, serum: 2.5 (2.0-4.4) sed rate: 4 magnesium, serum: 1.9 (1.6-2.6) this has gone down from 11/09 ferritin: 15 And now for the punchline: RT3: <17 (90-350) So from 11/12/09 until 1/4/10 my RT3 problem has entirely disappeared! Should I try armour/erfa? Or stay on the cytomel? I have an appt. with the ND this week and want to know whether to give armour a trial. My pharmacist claims he has the old armour in stock, in all dosages. He says he stocked up when the shortage came up. Guest guest
From what I understand, the RT3 clears from your blood long before it clears from the cell receptors. That's why a full 12 weeks on T3 only is recommended. If I were you, I'd stay on the T3 and keep working on getting your ferritin up. Guest guest
Thanks! I have appt. with our doc tomorrow morn and he will probably bring up the issue of armour, so i will need to just be strong and insist on sticking to cytomel. He will also bring up the topic of adding sex hormones to my regimen as my progesterone on 9/18/09 was 14 and my testosterone free was 3.7. Is it wise to supplement sex hormones at this time? He will also very likely mention the low dhea-s and may try to convince me to supplement; however, i have not done well with three days of dhea supplements in tiny doses. I got off it when I saw i had severe muscle weakness and fibromyalgia/myofascial pain returning. To: RT3_T3 Sent: Mon, January 4, 2010 5:46:45 PMSubject: Re: RT3 cleared so fast? Guest guest
Guest guest
If i'm going to be starting testosterone maybe it's a good idea to hold off on the fludro increase? (currently on .5 a day) Will I need less cortef if I'm on testosterone? (will I grow a beard? I'm terrified of adding andro hormones) To: RT3_T3 Sent: Mon, January 4, 2010 6:05:01 PMSubject: Re: RT3 cleared so fast? Should I try Armour/Erfa? Guest guest
Hello, Just curious why you thought the 86 glucose is an improvement over the prior labs, which slowed a glucose of only 70 something. Is it bad to have fasting glucose in the 70s? Thanks, Kathleen > New labs: 12/24/09, fasting as well > WBC: 5.1 Hurray! > RBC: 3.76 (3.8-5.1) > RDW: 15.4 (11.7-15.0) Dunno what this means > platelets: 144 (140-415) Dunno why this went down > glucose: 86 (hurray, an improvement) > bun: 11 >
