from a member of another group I'm on:

This is part of an article I wrote a while back on discrimination when one

has cancer

It's the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that protects an

employee.

" In addition to understanding your company's policies, you should also know

that you have rights. Legally, you're protected under the federal Americans

with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was passed in 1992 and amended in 1994.

Any employer with 15 or more employees is prohibited from discriminating

against qualified employees because of a disability. Cancer is considered a

disability. "

" If you feel that you're not making progress with your supervisor, you can

call the Job Accommodations Network at 1-800-ADA-WORK. It's a free service

that helps employers work out special arrangements, like flexible hours, for

employees in need "
