Guest guest
How can you tell your stomach is making more stomach acid? I've had tummy problems, that's why I'm asking. D---------- Original Message ----------To: RT3_T3 Subject: Blood pressure going far too highDate: Sat, 02 Jan 2010 18:48:06 -0000Hi ValI am struggling with the T3 and extra steroid that I need. I have felt a bit better in the mornings recently, but basal temp hasn't moved up still at 36.1.By the late morning or early afternoon I keep getting far too high bp readings, today it was horrendous something like 185/132 cos I had been standing, pulse 87. I have also had horrible vascular migraines for the past 3 days which I think are related to this high bp. I have to take 20 mg propananol to bring the bp down but it rises again later in the afternoon if I take anymore T3.The last few days I have taken 12.5mg T3 on waking at 6 am together with 2.5Pred. When I get up around 8am I take 2.5mg h/c and I also took 6.2 T3. Temperature dropped to 36 at 10.30 even though I was just resting. Temp still 36.1 after lunch but had that high bp at 11.50 but had been perfect in the morning up to then. At 1.30 I took 2 mg Pred cos of the low temp plus 6.2 T3 but the migraine was quite nasty. After taking a pain meds for the migraine I slept for 20 minutes but didn't feel much better.Later in the afternoon bp still too high at 162/96 pulse 82 and this would be with the betablocker still working somewhat. I took another 20mg Propananol and went for a short walk with the dog which helped my head slightly. My blood sugar is dropping very quickly when I do anything physical. Hoewver there have been some benefits from the T3 only in that my sleep is miles better, I feel much calmer at night and going to bed which I am very grateful for cos I used to get horrendous racing thumping heart going to bed which gave me severe adrenaline attacks. Also my skin is much softer and not so dry and my eczema is improving. It had been a problem the past 6 weeks since the crash in October. Finally my digestion is better, I seem to be making more stomach acid which is good because I just didn't used to make hardly any.My highest temperature the past few weeks has been 36.4 but most of the time is around 36.3. I will have been on T3 only for 3 weeks tomorrow and obviously I cannot tolerate more than 25 - 31 mcg I guess cos of probable low ferriten and such weak adrenals but cannot tolerate more than 25mg equivalent h/c cos of the high bp I get from it.Can you suggest any different schedules and amounts for taking the T3 when one is having problems tolerating it? It does seem strange I am having so many problems cos my T4 was only 7 in November way below range and I didn't ever take more than 1 grain dessicated daily often it was less and none for almost 3 weeks.ThanksPam------------------------------------
Guest guest
Pam I am suspicious you do nto need as much steroid. Low ferritin symotmos aer nearly identical to lwo cortils and in fact may CAUSE low cortils symtpomos when you add in T3. I woudl attempt to lower the pred some take lots of iron and SLOWLY push the T3 onwrd. Good T3 levels do nOT cause high BP. I am VERY prone ot high BP and with FT3 at 620 my BP is perfect. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/

I also had some high bp symptoms before the virus though. Normally I take 2.5mg Pred on waking, do you suggest I take say 2 mg with 12.5 T3 and no extra h/c and see how things go? When I am due to take my next 12.5 T3 around 1 pm should I take say 1 mg Pred and see what happens? Very grateful for you help cos I do feel that the T3 is going to be better for me if I can sort out the dose of steroid. Currently taking 325mg ferrous sulphate for 3 weeks and am seeing my GP on Wednesday to request a blood test so will continue on this dose till I get the result and will post. Guest guest
> > Yes I would try lowering the AM dose. > Hi Val You were right, it was too much steroid that I was reacting to. Had problems getting to sleep last night felt slightly overstimulated but no anxiety unlike previously but bp was perfect. On waking my bp was 125/77 pulse 73 before any meds. Took 2 mg Pred on waking at 7am together with 12.5 T3 and reduced Fludro to 1/4 tab. Went back to sleep for an hour and felt much better when I got up, not really any overstimulation feelings all am and bp much more normal but still had a sort of vascular feeling in my legs. I was able to do small jobs and felt a lot better and the migraine had gone. What a relief. Later in the morning I was able to go to a shop and then walked my Beagle for just 15 minutes and just about managed to finish off a cooked dinner when I got home but my legs did hurt when I eventually sat down at 1.50 pm. Had a good rest this afternoon, took another 12.5 T3 at 1 pm. Didn't know what to do about the steroid so didn't take anything extra until 3 pm cos of the muscle pain and my temp had dropped to 36.2 my basal temp so took just 2.5mg h/c and this helped me to feel better and temp raised to 36.5. My temperature had gone up to 36.6 at midday before I went out but after the walk it had dropped to 35.4 and this is what happens at the moment so obviously still quite hypo so will have to be patient. Guess the low ferriten will be adding to this problem. Have taken 6.2 T3 at 6 pm and that will be it for today. Not sure if I am going to need anymore steroid or not will see how I feel, if I do it will only be 2.5 h/c so this is a whole lot less than I had been on which is great. I looked back in my diary and saw that in November after the crash I did cut back on my steroid then and felt better but I wasn't able to maintain it and would be much worse the next day but of course I was only tolerating 1/2 grain then hopefully things will be different now cos of the T3. It was so great to feel so much better, more like the old me but legs definitely suffering this afternoon and can still feel them aching now that I am resting but guess that is to be expected. Thanks so much for your help Pam

I had taken just 2.5mg Pred which is what I always take and my bp was fine, quite normal around 124/72 at 10 am and also before. However by 11 when the extra T3 of 6.2 had kicked in which I had taken at 8.50 am I could feel the vascular horrible feeling in my head and body and knew that my bp had gone too high. I also felt slightly dizzy. My bp had risen to 152/102 with the pulse at 90 whereas normally it is 72. The same thing has happened at least once every day even when I cut back on the steroid so it definitely isn't the steroid but it is a reaction to the T3 even though I have been on it now for 2 1/2 weeks I cannot raise the amount I take. It would seem I am fine if I take 12.5 T3 on waking and the same at lunchtime with just 6.2 at 6 pm. I cannot tolerate any more than this so it means I am quite hypo feeling very cold at times and poor stamina and energy. One thing I don't understand is how come I felt well up till the October crash even though my ferriten would have been low?
