Guest guest
, You are speaking to my heart today with your post. I am sure you are also speaking to many of our hearts and experiences. My Nada also claims my success as her own. Afterall...she's BPD. I have also had a similar birthday experience where she bought a HUGE sheetcake and took me to a club.... WTH?! When I have always told her I prefer an intimate family gathering. Please keep venting and letting this stuff out. Just know that I am one who supports you! By the way when I recently told her that I feel like all our recent conversations are always about her, she replied, " I just want you to have a better life than I had " . Wow..... Completely unrelated to what I said. Latasha

Guest guest
Oh geez, the unrelated responses - yes I remember those. And as for claiming your acheivments, that has been a major topic in my therapy. If my nada didn't like it, she rejected it, me everything. If she liked it, it was her accomplishment. Guest guest
You're right, it's all about her. Same with my wedding. I was paying for it but my nada insisted on having all her friends invited, most of whom I didn't even know. My wedding photos (taken by my Dad) are a bunch of strangers and my nada dressed in an all white mini dress. She was having a good time. I just wanted to get it over with. So my mother plans this party anyways as a surprise. But you'd think if you wanted to plan a surprise party you'd actually invite some of your daughter's friends, right? No. > > On my 16th birthday, I came into my home to find nada had invited her family as the guests to my surprise birthday party. Basically she planned this party to show off her 16 year old daughter and how perfect she is. And I hated it. I had nothing to prove to these losers. > > > But it was a special occasion, so of course it was all about her. > > >
Guest guest
Hm, weird. I also had a surprise 16th b.day party from my nada & stepfada. The only kid I knew there was my friend who lived across the street... we weren't even really hanging out that much at that point because she was drinking a lot and I was never into that. Oh wait, there was also another friend there that I hung out with in elementary school that I was still friendly with but we didn't hang out much. Kinda weird. I mean, I guess it was nice that she came? The friends I was close to weren't invited. The other kids there were the kids of nada & stepfada's friends. It's kind of ironic... the girl my nada & stepfada wanted me to be friends with was kind of like an anarchist kind of teen. She was friends with another girl who I am now best friends with. The anarchist girl strikes my friend & I both as having major issues too. My friend thinks she has antisocial PD... frankly, with the way that girl could lie, hurt & manipulate & get her jollies out of it, I wouldn't doubt it. Maybe nada saw something of herself in that girl LOL. I remember nada gave me a new blow dryer that year... weird. I never dried my curly hair because then it frizzed. I used to let it air dry. I think she ended up using it. LOL... more oddness. It really IS all about them, isn't it? Mia
