Guest guest
If you HAD to use an abx, Zithromax would probably be a better option than Amoxicillin. SSent from my iPhone My 8 year old son Leo who is currently opperating on the Atusim spectrum has strep throat. We have been using the bio medical treatment for four years, we have working on establishing a healthy gut for what seems like a very long time. He constanly battles yeast. I am afriad to give him amoxicillin. I am thinking about treating it naturally with berberine. Many people have told me that "antibiotics are not that big of a deal, just give him probiotics" but thats not true for our kids...right? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Annie P.S. Prior to this Leo has been doing realy well- little to no stimming, higher brain functioning, learning to read, developing friendships, gaining weight, loves to eat, loves his family. This last year has brought a lot of growth for Leo!

Guest guest
PLEASE give either augmentin or zithromax!!!!!!! One of the cursed of autism is the tendency towards PANDAS which begins with strep. If it is not eliminated you may end up with OCD, tics and tantrums that persist for years or forever. > > My 8 year old son Leo who is currently opperating on the Atusim spectrum has strep throat. Guest guest
Hi Annie, I would be careful with strep as there seems to be more and more kids popping up with pandas. If your son's immune system is already compromised (asd), strep could be enough to push him over the edge. It doesn't happen every time. But when it does happen, its not pretty. I've no experience with pandas...maybe someone who does will chime in, but I'm not too sure I would skip the antibiotics and I'm also not sure that amox. is the choice rx. I know it sucks because its ALOT of work to get the gut in check. But you want to make sure you look at it from every angle. If you have a biomedical doc, that's a conversation I would definitely have. Try pandas.net. Maybe you can find more info there. Hope your little guy is feeling better soon. -tammy To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Sat, March 5, 2011 12:06:23 AMSubject: Strep... Guest guest
I would agree. Don't play around with strep. You will see OCD that makes your child crazy, unexplainable aggression, mania/insomnia, anxiety and motor/vocal tics. You may not see it now, but it will come later when the antibodies that are supposed to kill strep start attacking the brain. I would get the antibiotics, and don't be afraid to go heavy. You can repair any gut issues later, just get rid of the strep! Olive leaf and oil of oregano are not enough for my son. When I feel a sore throat coming on, Manuka honey makes it better pretty much the same day. Manuka honey is supposed to kill strep, but I would not rely on it alone. We have used Zylitol nose spray to kill strep in our sinuses, but again, I would not rely on it alone. Guest guest
Gargle with iodine water 3-4 times a day(2-3 drops in half a cup water gargle and spit). For a child, Ingest 1 to 3 drops of Lugols 2% Iodine twice a day for 5 -7 days. If a child cant gargle, putting the iodine in ALOT of water to drink basically does the same thing of coating the throat except you arent spitting out the dead bacteria. Put diluted iodine (1 drop in 1/4 cup distilled water, or really purified water) and swab the nostrils 2-3x a day. Natural salt with water and more water will flush out the toxins and dead bacteria. Start with 1/4 tsp in half cup water. Followed by a cup of water. Epsoms salt footbaths and lots of protein cant hurt either. Keep in mind that i am not a fan of antibiotics so i am totally biased and to me it seems antibiotics dont cure the strep, just lower the numbers along with destroying the gut and people have to keep taking it forever(or so it seems). Cause when the antibiotics stop, the strep returns. Just my opinions, which tend to differ from many here on this subject :-) Like i have said, antibiotics may be warranted for this episode, or several or not. Only you can decide that. If used, it should be short term (once lol) imo, with the long term thoughts or focus to changing why Strep happened or continues to linger. If a person is always getting Strep, or colds or sinus infections, or respiratory infections or flu bugs, supplementing with Lugols iodine along with a comprehensive nutritional program can stop it. Bold statement i know, but i have seen it happen in too many people to not think it true. Cheryl > > > > > > My 8 year old son Leo who is currently opperating on the Atusim spectrum has strep throat. Guest guest
Strep hides often in the tonsils, thats why its so bad for our kids, sitting by the brain. Its extremely difficult to get rid of as well. It usually takes hard core antibiotic's. IVIG for two years, proved useless for our son, still treating it. After this summer if its still an issue, I guess we will consider getting his tonsils taken out. I dread that too. > > > > > > > > My 8 year old son Leo who is currently opperating on the Atusim spectrum has strep throat. Guest guest
The most easily fixed condition would be iodine deficiency. Which has a way of fixing the others. For those with a mostly healthy body adding a drop or 2 of Lugols 2%iodine daily is enough to stop the bugs. This type of person gets the occassional cold or flu and even strep and elminates it. Enough iodine and they dont get it. Just passes thru their body without symptoms cause it's killed and removed efficiently. For those with severe Iodine deficiency and Thyroid disorder, autism(?) all with a resulting cascade of symptoms they will need more. The lack of iodine contributes to being unable to remove the bugs, Getting sick from all the bugs, AND keeping the bugs in growing numbers creating a newer wider variety of symptoms and deficiencies. To stop that, To create a body that works how it's suppose to, or the environement where pathogens dont thrive seems to require iodine not being obtained from food sources. And you are right, the longer the body is messed up the worse it becomes. All you have to do is look around at those around you (or am i the only one that sees sick people everywhere?) or check statistics. There are very few healthy people. The progression of so called age related illness, the obesity, the cancers, the zillions of auto immune disorders are all testimony that something is terribly wrong within our health care system. I could write another book on that so i will just say, What seems to be working for me and mine is: Lugols 2% Iodine,Transdermal Magnesium Chloride,Magnesium Malate, Se, D3, B2, Niacin, Hymalayan pink salt, Tyrosine, Coconut Oil, Enzymes, Natural Thyroid (me), Vit C (Buffered and Liposomal), Inositol and lots of water and good food. I think the Low Oxalate Diet would probably help anyone. As well as avoiding/limiting goitrogen foods. I have only recently been trying to limit oxalate. Didnt get how important it was until a few weeks ago. I havent had a potato in a week (and i pretty much ate them daily). If you arent familiar with the diet, it seems to effect the availablility of iodine. Among other things. Oxalate is like a halide that displaces iodine. Oxalate is almost sounding as bad as worms! Try to eliminate or limit red meat, find a good chicken source. I find it the easiest protein source to create a variety of menus. Use good oils. Use lots of natural salt to cook.Garlic. Limit milk or change to a non milk non soy source. Some people say raw milk or goats milk is good. This is where enzymes help. I havent done many Probiotics mostly cause when i looked into them in the past the decent ones required overnight air to me since i am in the booonies so hadnt used them. Reading alot of the posts here lately makes me think they have gotten better at making them so might try again. I tried Kefir and it was fun to grow but i couldnt drink the stuff and wouldnt get near it. Plain or anything i mixed it with and he would not eat it. He actually took my kefir jar from the fridge and hid it once (almost killing them!) he was that freaked out by it. Lots of people swear by it tho. Eliminating sugar is one of the most recommended things. I tend to eat sugar. eats sugar. I am bad. I like icecream. Brownies occasionaly. I would never eat fake sugar. Stevia (the real stuff not the fake processed stuff) is very good for sugar substitution and i think there is anti viral properties as well. So if you can eliminate sugar all the way you are better at it than me and you will all be healthier for it! Eliminating some, if not all sugar, still has benefit. Thats what i try to do. I tend to pick my battles differently than some. Sunshine. I am a firm believer that a minimum 20 minutes of sunshine should be on everyones must do list of each day. We should be ingraining this habit in our children. If you happen to live in a place that doesnt have sun most its days (like me) then D3 is a must. Or the right sunlamps Or a mass exodus to Sunnier climates. I think my Black Walnut Hulls and Wormwood are going to be here today so I plan to try those. And Chrissys formula I think we all probably have more parasites than we want to imagine. The biomed that you have been using and you feel is working should be continued. It may only need a little tweaking to ensure enough of the Mag and C and Natural Salt. It may need more tweaking as the body heals. Additional things (MB12, Valtrex, LDN, a few others) may be considered for some to correct deficiency, eliminate high viral loads, speed healing. So thats what i think and thats what i do and it may or may not work for you, it's worth a try. Guest guest
So I take it you have used the iodine in the manner described and found it to not work? That is the only definitive way you can say it will not address strep, or your autoimmune issues. If you have some link to where it says it doesnt work, that iodine will not address an autoimmune issue, please share. I, and many others have used iodine in the described manner and eliminated strep. There are now many doctors who have used it in the manner described and eliminated strep. So who is right and who is wrong and who is dangerous and who is just dangerously afraid? To even try, to even hope, or give hope. Why deny something so many are finding health with and not tried? People ARE addressing autoimmune issues with the use of iodine. And not just thyroid immune issues. A myriad of immune issues. Diseases. Issues. Syndromes. I hope i do convince everyone to try iodine rather than antibiotics because in my opinion iodine is the key. I get that your opinion is that it's not. Yes strep is nothing to mess with, yes it can reek havoc on the brain and body. Seen it first hand. Yes antibiotics might help eliminate it. Few people can also get past having to take it for months or years or is it forever? Antibiotics are known to cause liver issues. Iodine is known to correct liver issues. Antibiotics tear down the system to kill one bug and what other systems are effected? Are the long term effects really known? With iodine sufficiency the focus is not on one bug or pathogen or metal or issue. Its about fixing the body, Learning how to give the body what it's deficient in, providing a comprehensive nutritional program with emphasize on minerals and vitamins and lots of protein, good water and exercise, building up the immune system, creating an endocrine system that works properly. Transport systems that work properly. Immune response that works properly. And so on. A healthy body with healthy systems that takes care of pathogens, metals and toxins. You think iodine wont help accomplish that. You say it doesnt mater. There are alot of folks finding it does. Me included.
Guest guest
Gosh, I am mostly a lurker, and I do not want to stir up any trouble, and I get that there are can be different solutions for different things- I'll be honest, Iodine scares me. I have a friend who was trying to detox herself naturally last summer- she did some iodine, and got deathly sick- it whacked her out for months on end, to the point she needed to get medication for panic attacks she was having- and, it scares me because of the effect on the thyroid, and the thyroid is soooo sensitive, and crucial. I don't want to try and doctor that myself. Please don't blast me. Just an opinion. Believe you and me both, would I love a $5.99 cent product to cure EVERYTHING in my daughter? You betcha. I just spent $5,000 with a HD-IVIG to stop brain damamge. > > ...and I'm one, btw, who thinks she ought to go ahead with the abx. But if it > were ME, I'd prob give the iodine a shot.... > > > > > ________________________________ > > To: mb12 valtrex > Sent: Sat, March 5, 2011 5:10:49 PM > Subject: Re: Re: Strep... > >  > On the same note, how many doctors have told us that biomedical intervention > would not address our children's " autism " . ?? Just sayin'. > > >

Guest guest
Thanks T Lynn, that was a nice post back. What can I say. I am a very, very weary warrior mama, who wishes she could just hang up the shield and sword. Thank you for the good thoughts for our IVIG. This whole thing has taken an incredible toll on our family. Wishing everyone healing- > > > > ...and I'm one, btw, who thinks she ought to go ahead with the abx. But if it > > > > were ME, I'd prob give the iodine a shot.... > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > From: T Lynn <t.lynn28@> > > To: mb12 valtrex > > Sent: Sat, March 5, 2011 5:10:49 PM > > Subject: Re: Re: Strep... > > > >  > > On the same note, how many doctors have told us that biomedical intervention > > would not address our children's " autism " . ?? Just sayin'. > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Well, if all you got from my post was that you need a $5.99 bottle of iodine to cure all ills then obviously i dont write very well ;-) One, my bottle of iodine is $10+ and two, all my other supps cost about $100 a month. My post was about adressing deficiency(s). Good nutrition. Natural Salt. Magnesium. Selenium. Vit C. Protein. Water. Enzymes. Tyrosine. Other stuff. So i want to be clear again, I never said it was one thing. Course I do think it's the KEY thing along with some other things, but not just one thing. Perhaps a very healthy person who ate a fairly good diet could just take iodine and cure their minor ills, tho they wouldnt be considered healthy if they had ills ;-) As for doctoring a thyroid yourself, I would trust myself over most doctors in regard to thyroid. There are literaly hundreds (thousands) of stories repeated by peoples' experiences with docs who have no clue. Most Docs know little to nothing about the thyroid. Trusting that your doc is one of the few who know is a crapshoot. If he pretends to know (which most do) this can lead to major problems. Most ignore ever so slight minor symptoms that add up after a few years to major ones. If your doc does know about thyroids then i would be shocked. Most have no clue at all what the tests they order mean. They dont even order the right tests/Labs. Most want to cut it out " just in case " when they see perceived abnormalities. For most docs, their entire knowledge of thyroid disorder is wrong. When i hear people say their thyroids are fine (or slightly off, not to worry) cause the doc said so i just cringe. There just arent that many that know. But, if you like docs, and if you like having a doc to tell you what to do and you like tests, then at least find one that one that does know rather than listening to and using the services of one who doesnt know (and probably wont know or learn because of their own misconceptions and false knowledge). As for your friend, without knowing what she actually tried in her quest to detox naturally i have no idea what caused her problem. One cant say it was the iodine, nor can they say it wasnt. Knowing if it was the iodine or not is unclear. Knowing even what kind of iodine is unclear. Knowing what else she was taking is unclear. Perhaps she didnt think salt or Se was important. Perhaps the dieoff scared her enough that she envisioned it worse than it was and OCD caused more of a panic. Perhaps she was already adrenal fatiqued and that with the dieoff was too much. Perhaps if she had pushed on thru it, with a steady dosage and with the correct supplements, she would have balanced out and felt great. If panic was the main symptom, based on what you posted, I would guess really bad adrenals, not enough salt, not enough C. Hydrocortisone probably would have helped more than an anxiety Rx. Is she healthy now? Relating a story without all the facts and only the fear, is another way to spread Iodophobia. Kinda like stories that spread fear about chelation. Similiar to how people tell one story that biomed wont treat autism so a million others believe it too. When someone hears of someone that had a bad experience ask what else could there be that effected the situation. Typically it's not enough companion supplements, or too much iodine for a too toxic and damaged body. Or, even not enough. Sometimes the people are so liver congested that taking anything that kicks up the dust is going to make them ill. So they get afraid and they stop, losing out on something their body desperately needs. I mean alot of people decide to try iodine without using the companion supplements then dont understand why they feel bad. (And even then go on to tell others how bad they felt taking iodine but left out some facts?) One girl decided she needed 200mg Iodine(extremely high dosage reserved for cancer patients with a whole lot of additional support), even when many said it was too much, she thought she didnt need salt either and then couldnt understand why she felt bad. She blamed the iodine. People dont always tell or even know themselves the whole story. I had one i talked to who swore it was the iodine but come to find out she also decided to start 600mg Alpha Lipoic Acid at the same time but forgot to mention it or think it was related. She stopped the ALA and the symptoms went away. You just never know. My point is to not assume it's the iodine (it isnt always the iodine) but what else is missing. Or detoxing. Or healing. I just dont get people blasting something they know so little about. People are way too dependent on letting someone else tell them what their bodies need. And when that someones opinion being listened to (docs) has a stake in what they sell(medicine), when their way of life is at stake, their livelyhood, Do you really think they will suggest or even investigate a $10 bottle of iodine with a hundred bucks worth of supplements if it means they dont get their $500 office visit? They tell enough people and there goes the big house. Then the vacation house. Then the boat. There may be a few altruistic docs but they are few and far between. And they are starting to use iodine For some docs they just believe what they are told, mostly by Pharm reps, and they spew it back to patients, never even really knowing what they speak of. I guess maybe i have met too many stupid or think they know it all doctors. Then there are the docs that are so set in their own protocols they cant see another path. There are quite alot of us that dont have thousands of dollars (or even hundreds) to try things that may or may not work and even spending the hundred or so i spend each month is difficult, so I really wish there was an all in one $5.99 bottle instead :-) Hope you dont feel blasted, not my intent :-) Cheryl > > Gosh, I am mostly a lurker, and I do not want to stir up any trouble, and I get that there are can be different solutions for different things- > I'll be honest, Iodine scares me.
