I hadn't thought of coconut yogurt, Tammy. I'll try that tomorrow, thanks!

I don't know what your dietary situation is, but you could try peanutbutter, almond butter, applebutter or sunbutter.     Also, coconut yogurt is quite " soupy " not thick and stiff like regular yogurt or pudding.  You could probably mix the charcoal right in it and let him drink it through a straw.  Hope you find something that works.           -tammy

Thanks a lot for the charcoal suggestions, guys! I should have mentioned my son has always had texture sensitivities and has never tolerated soft, creamy or wet foods, which makes it so hard b/c I can't mix his supplements into anything but juice. At this point he will not take applesauce. I've been able to hide the color of the charcoal in an opaque lidded cup but he can feel gritty texture and then he won't go near it. Is everybody's charcoal gritty? Maybe there's a brand w/ a finer texture?

I'm not jo, but before my boys could swallow capsules, I gave charcoal in homemade pearsauce. Activated charcoal is tasteless and odorless. You can hide it in anything you want as far as taste and odor goes. The only drawback is that it is black. It is just a matter of whether or not the color will bother him.

What if you added it to a slushie or made it into a popsicle? The icy texture may hide the grit. Thanks a lot for the charcoal suggestions, guys! Thanks Gayle!Sent from my iPhone

,When I give charcoal it's 1 or 2 caps at a time and they are 280mg each (Solaray brand). If we're in the middle of a herx (which typically lasts a couple days), I drop all supps down to the very basics and try to give charcoal a couple times per day 2 hrs away from any other supps. I also do less complex, easily digested foods at that time. Everything I learned about managing/helping this kid I learned on this board!GayleFrom: Hammes

Gayle, That's really good advice. We have to go low and slow on everything . How much charcoal do you give? Thanks,Sent from my iPhone

jo, I'm afraid I'd be of little or no help. The iodine stuff is only 20 days old in this house. My son has soooo many of the common symptoms of hyopthyroidism except that he's disturbingly thin (as 's discussed). My mom has goiter with normal labs. The thing your son and mine have in common is a highly reactive nature to treatments. My son is a Herxheimer reaction champ. Low and slow is our way of life. He'll be on 1 drop of Lugol's 2% for at least a month before I even think about 2 drops. I gave Lugol's too close to an epsom salt bath the other night and he had way too much detox, too fast and things were very tense for hours afterward. Cheryl will have so much more guidance. I'm giving a multi for teens with Se, Niacinamide, vit c

and I'm hoping its enough of the companion elements. When I eventually find a way to sneak ACV into him it will be in a toddlers dose. I don't doubt there are parasite issues but I know we have to rid very gently with this kid. Sure hoping the charcoal helps your guy today and that he's having a die off reaction versus allergic so that you can pick up and continue watching him make gains again. Hi Cheryl and Gayle, my son is 13, severely autistic with grand mals, not controlled with meds. He has never been vaccinated. He has severe allergies, having grand mals as a reaction. I muscle test his foods to make sure he gets no food he will have a reaction to. This is not accurate of course.

I did not know I was supposed to give him other supplements along with the iodine. His allergies are so bad, this is not an option for me to do for him.

He is on biotics research liquid iodide forte. The back of the bottle says, iodine(as potassium iodide) 1 drop is 150 mcg. This was recommended by a chiro, 15 drops a day. I did find online that some use this at 8 drops 3 times a day.

This is the only thing I have ever used for my thyroid that has helped me. I was amazed that after being on it for a short amount of time, that my hair started coming in thicker, the thinning areas grew in and the hair on my arms came back.

I am thinking it is die off. I backed off his dosage one day to 2 drops and he sat on the couch all day, that is how he spends most of his day. When I upped it the next day, he went back to playing with his puzzles, something I haven't seen him do in 2 years. He is also making elaborate shapes with his blue thomas tracks. You can just see his brain working.

He has also been hitting everything and drooling. I just gave him charcoal, so if it helps, I am going to assume it has been die off and push through this.

Thank you for any help you can offer me.
