Katcha -- are you able to "intuitively" avoid gluten? Wheat doesn't agree with me, either, but since it doesn't make me violently ill, just "icky" with lousy-feeling guts, I have a hard time staying away from what products because I like them so much.Ellie

I'm like you Ellie, I don't suffer so much from eating gluten that I avoid it

like the plague! However I have gotten to where I am becoming more aware of who

my body reacts - overly warm (and its not hot flashes - been there, thru that -

phew!), heartburn and body 'expansion' without deep misery involved. So I do eat

gluten now and then, get the Oh darn' reminder, and slowly, ever so slowly find

alternatives that I can choose and go forth to better honor my patient and

tolerant (of my less wonderful choices) body. So far intuition has very little

if not anything to do with it - sigh. But like battling diet mentality, I count

on those baby steps that I can and do make to get me to where I need to be.

One of my latest minor victories has been to give up on making pie crusts and

cobblers (old favorites of mine) out of rice flour. Instead I have had success

with making pound cake with rice instead of wheat flour and I can top that with

warmed, thickened fruit which is as good to me as a piece of pie or cobbler.

Baby steps!

ehugs, Katcha
