Maybe he wants to treat you with supplements because he feels that is enough,

but he probably isn't real aware of the difference of pharmacutical doses and

physiological doses. When cortisol was first discovered they prescribed it for

long periods of time on doses that are up to 20 times what you are asking for,

for the adrenal fatigue. Later there were horrific side effects and I even heard

that the guy who invented prednisone actually killed himself when he found out

the side effects. The dose your asking for is compleely safe, actually safer

than not having it at this point. This article might help if you printed it and

gave it to them. Others on here will also might have some good ideas as I am

not the authority.

Bottom line is, they don't know how to treat it properly and do not want the responsiblity of it. Some doctors just want you to spend thousands of dollars on their supplements and then when that doesn't work, they tell you to go somewhere else. I agree though, if I was a doc, I'd start with supplements and diet...but of course everyone is an individual. If you're secondary(pituitary), all the supplements in the world is not going to heal your adrenals.

Cortef is VERY hard to adjust the dose. Too much and you can damage your

system, cause Diabetes, or even finish ruining your adnreal glands, and

too little and the symptoms peolle have becoem 100 times worse. Very few

doctors have the time or inclinatioan to adjsust a hormone this tricky.
