Guest guest
I work with the elderly folks. Has his MRI or scan on his head shown any other brain changes of aging, etc......I'm not saying that folks are destined to feel bad in old age, quite the opposite, but, there are changes that happen quite naturally in aging, especially at that age. Also, he's been through a LOT over this past yr, and rolling with the punches. That would be enough to put me under for awhile, and I'm only 54. He needs good nutrition, among other things, and the elderly have a tendency to forget to eat/don't want to eat, when in these states of mind. I know that this is a very blanket statement, but is a true one. Still, don't dismiss all the individual things either. A little hypo goes a long way, especially when it's working on the brain. He has a pituitary tumor, which means that a LOT of stuff is affected up there, to boot. need advice please > My 76 year old dad just found out he has a non secreting pituitary > tumor ...1.5 cm....he is having it taken out Feb 7.....he > is in a deep depression and is on meds(lexapro 20mg) > for it........I can't wait til he feels > better.......dare I wish for a complete > recovery?......also his newly discovered underactive thyroid and low > testosterone make him soooo fatigue and weak..he's > been on the hormone pill for 2 weeks now and doesn't > notice any difference......I'm thinking he'll never > feel better.......it seems like everything happened to > him at once...started with a stomach infection in July > (h.pylori)...aoertic valve replacement(open heart surgery) Sept > 14........and now his thyroid problems and pituitary > tumor..his endo doctor says his hormones are not that low and that he > doesn't understand why he feels sooooooooo exhusted and weak...alone > with digestion problems, sleep problems..etc..anyone have any > experience or advice?......I > need incouragement!....anyone out there in there 70's > dealing with the same thing?..help!
