I'd highly recommend this short and easy-to-read and understand free e-book,

which Bill posted the PDF for. It is very encouraging and practical.

Basically, the author, Rob s, says all we need to do to lose our excess

weight and retrain ourselves to be in tune with our bodies like naturally thin

people is to:

1) Eat when hungry.

2) Eat exactly what we want.

3) Stop eating when we are no longer hungry.

He very clearly describes what he means by " no longer hungry " and how that is

different from " full. " He believes this to be a key difference between

overeaters and naturally thin people. I found his descriptions and discussion

of this VERY helpful. I think many people on this IE list are shooting for

" full, " which he states is how you choose to maintain your current weight.

Given that he weighed about 300 pounds and has now maintained a 140# loss for

over a decade without any sense of deprivation, I'm interested in his point of

view.

He is not into long discussions of how messed-up overeaters are, and the longest

list of the principles he used is:

1) I distinguish between appetite and hunger.

2) I eat to satisfy physical hunger.

3) I eat the foods I desire.

4) I savor each and every bite.

5) I regard food as fuel.

6) I stop eating when my hunger disappears.

I just love his points about how this is all about self-care and feeling better

and autonomy and that NO ONE, not even HIM, has a right to tell us what, when,

and how much to eat. This is great stuff! He's talking about the freedom to

feel good in each moment. I want this transformation.

I don't want this post to be too doggone long, so I'll post separately on

specific points.

Jane
