Dan is right, and I think he will produce some recommendations.Usually, they do start them on antivirals at this point, though.(I used to volunteer at the former Shanti Project, so I am not upto date.) However, I do have a friend who tests positive for HIV,and they did test his T cells right away, and did consider anti-viral medication.Love to him and to you, Sharon, and love to Dan and group, too,nFrom: Sharon

Thanks, Dan. I have been puzzled over the lack of medication for him. Let me know what you find out.hugs Sharonjoin me on Facebook:Sharon Mars wobbletowalk@ yahoo.comThis email is a natural hand made product. Interesting that the doctor doesn't want to put him on a course of treatment. If he's developed night sweats, it suggests he has AIDS and not just HIV infection. But, perhaps his T-cell count is currently high enough that the doctor doesn't yet want to start him on some toxic drugs. I'll have to ask some friends who work at the AIDS Foundation in SF about this. Dan U dao_nguuhotmail (DOT) com

He said his doc said they don't put a person on the drug treatment until they are getting sick. If he didn't exactly said that --he did say something similar. He is sick but not real sick, I guess. He was having fevers and night sweats and that led him to the doc for testing. Luckily he was persistent with the doc and keep asking for testing. The doc apparently didn't think of testing him for HIV/AIDS. He's so young to have to deal with this. He has a good job and (hopefully) good insurance. Thanks Dan. I appreciate your words.

Fortunately the doctor diagnosed his HIV early and these days there are many more treatments for managing HIV/AIDS than existed just a few years ago. It's not something one would wish on anyone. But, with treatment it's not the death sentence it once was. As I'm in San Francisco, I've met many people living with HIV/AIDS.Dan U dao_nguuhotmail (DOT) com

I need to share this.... I just found out my childrens' half-brother is HIV positive. This young man was kicked out of his father's house when he was 14 and went to live with my daughter. He is 23 now. He lived with my daughter from the time he was 14 til he was 19, then moved out. He was having fevers and night sweats and that's what led him to the doc for testing. I don't know what the future holds for this young man but for now he is feeling pretty good he said.
