Guest guest
Hi everyone! I'm a newbie to this group, but not to IE. I started my journey in May 2010, when I discovered Bethenny el " s Naturally Thin. In which she says eat ehat you want... but then there's a whole bunch of rules. Then I discovered Geneen Roth's books, and LOVED them, but it was difficlut for me to apply her ideas to my actual life. Then I read May's " eat what you love " and that was great! Then I found Intuitive Eating and I am totally hooked! I have conventionally dieted for about 15 years, on and off. Major yoyo ing, but mostly just inching up in pounds. I have 4 children ages 6 and under, and gained lots by each pregnancy because I was allowed to eat finally! Then, each time i gave birth and ran to a nutritionist who gave new rules, I measured, I wrote everything down... except when I would binge, once or twice a week, eating my WHOLE pantry, pies of pizza, bars of choc.. you know.. ANyway here I am 4 months postpartum, bigger THAN EVER, and trying so hard to eat mindfully. YET: i still binge at night. most nights. I do not know why. I eat what I want every day. sit down. concentrate. eat what i really want. stop at 5 or 6. So why after dinner do i feel like i need to be STUFFEd... and with JUNK food? At night I feel a magnet drawing me to the kitchen, forcing me to indulge and treat myself, and feel that FULL number 8 or 9 feeling. WHY WHY WHY??????? I have absolutely no clue. And therefore have stayed the same weight since my baby was born in Septmeber. (I try not to weighy myself but do once a month about). Anyways any suggestions would be great! thanks
Guest guest
Interesting…I, too, read el’s “Naturally Thin” and loved it (at first). I think it was because I felt at last there was a different way. I knew I didn’t agree with everything she said; some of her ideas, I felt, were pretty out there, but I was excited. Then, I was looking for it on Amazon, typed in “Naturally Thin” and found Antonello’s book “How to be Naturally Thin by Eating More: The Anti-Diet Book.” Since then, I realize that Bethany’s book is not for me, but I love it for getting me started. Antonello’s book, along with IE, are my two favorites. Kate Hi everyone! I'm a newbie to this group, but not to IE. I started my journey in May 2010, when I discovered Bethenny el " s Naturally Thin. But I always panicked and dieted even fasted. Off and on I was taking prednisone for sarcoidosis and always was hungry as a wolf. I did loose weight a few times when I gave up dieting but was never consistent. Fifteen years after my last baby, I finally found IE and lost 40lb. I still have 30 to go and it has been awhile since I lost any. That is frustrating. If you keep busy with all that you have to do and stop thinking about your weight, you will gradually lose. As to the night time binging, maybe you should go to bed a little earlier, say a couple hours after your last meal. You would have to eat later or just a snack. I have trouble with hunger in the middle of the night but I don't get up and eat. It was bad when I was on prednisone but less frequent now. Another little trick I do is keep a box of mints at my bed and eat a couple. That seems to take away the hunger.
