Guest guest
Both the visuals as well as the endless " advice " saturate the magazine and the reader. It was very disturbing to subscribe to a magazine out of wanting exercise tips or a recipe and feel the whole thing revolved around an endless diet advertisement. Glad you can relate! Thanks! > > > > First, I want to thank everyone for their ongoing support and sharing. Guest guest
Thanks for your response. I love your idea about putting that money towards savings....as part of our self-care....either for financial stability...or self-care in later purchasing something that is helpful! I am relived to have purged them...and yes, the word " purge " seemed apt in this case! LOL! > > Way to go, ! Good job! > > > I have so often bought those magazines staring at me from the impulse rack at the checkout counter. They always have some hot new diet on the cover, " Lose X pounds by whatever holiday is upcoming!!! New diet is all the rage in Europe or California! " In one particular magazine I don't have to search for the article, I know it's always on about page 18 or 20. And you know what?? Whatever fruit, enzyme, vitamin, soup, etc., is supposed to be the magic key to the diet's success, the rest of it is always 3 commonsense meals and 2 snacks. > > > I think I'll start putting the price of a magazine in my savings account every time I pass one up because I don't need it anymore :-) > > Ellie > > > > > >________________________________ > > > > > > > >I thought I would mention that one way I am supporting myself this year is eliminating all of these " women's health " magazines in my life.
