Guest guest
I understand how it may be a little disheartening, but I also find the article helpful and interesting...I KNOW that I KNOW this thing is more than calories and exercise...there's more going on during the weight loss process. Guest guest
It was a really interesting article, I thought. It is a little bit depressing to see so much evidence of how very difficult it is to keep weight off, but in a way I also found it very freeing. All in all, I felt relieved when I read it. I just CAN'T do restrictive food plans anymore, and if that means I'll be "overweight" all my life, then I guess I will be. And I guess the next step is to work on acceptance of myself as I am -- not an easy thing for those of us who grew up thinking we were somehow defective if we didn't meet Hollywood's standards! But I can live a happy, meaningful, interesting life, whether or not my BMI is where the health police say it should be. I can be strong and healthy. I'm so sick of thinking about my weight and food all the time. I have a long way to go before I'm free of that, but I think I am moving toward it. The article reinforced my dawning belief that I'm not a failure because I can't do the impossible. I'm just a human being who can't do the impossible! I'm not going to batter myself fighting a losing battle anymore. I'm going to focus on what I *can* do to be healthy and happy, instead of chasing a goal that keeps eluding my grasp. Thanks to both of you who posted the link to the article. I found it really helpful in reinforcing my knowledge that IE is the way to go for me. Sue Sorry to post something you found depressing. I found it encouraging that scientists are finally figuring out that dieting doesn't work. > > > > I found this interesting.
